1) Any word on what percentage are accepting recalls?

2) Could this be part of a tactic to prepare for an upcoming battle with the APA?

So far the returning percentage is about 1 in 4. Once we get done recalling the Eagle flowbacks (and as we get deeper into the furloughs that have been out for longer), that will probably go to 1:6 and above (they've moved on.)

Regarding your second question, I have no doubt there will be a nasty battle between the Co and the union. We are very united here at APA in preparing for the worst.... however - the truth is, we can all be prepared to walk and then BAM! the DFW and ORD guys (usually pro management and representing the majority) will vote in some ridiculously concessionary contract and it'll be all for naught. Gawd, I hope not.

This 30.5% increase in pay sounds good, but they shot themselves in the foot. Why? Becasue that's what we really want, and in order to get that, we had to open much higher in order to negotiate down to that level.

I hope I'm wrong. In any case, glad to see that recalls are speeding up.

1)With somewhere between a 6:1 and 4:1 ratio, it would appear that AA could start street hiring somewhere between Spring and Fall 2008!

2)In my second comment, I was thinking that a pilot that has been on furlough for 5-6 years, may succomb to the pressure to accept a sub-par contract in exchange for a return to normality.

3)If what you said is true about the 30% raise, I can't believe that APA didn't start higher. Nonetheless you guys (all of us really) deserve it. I wish you the best with that.

On final,

I would expect to see new hires IMO by the end 2008.

Onfinal,

Models show my recall as early next Summer in 2008 (95' hire) and I have about 1000 people after me. FYI. However, I think the ratio will go higher as you get near the bottom...the longer the furlough the less chance of return.

Other reasonable factors: age 65, contract negotiations, recalls beyond the staple point (most are at the top of the pay scale) will be variables that even the experts will have to wrestle with.

Hope they are all ready to go back to furlough after the age 60 rule changes.

Thanks again APAAD.

Quick question regarding AA recalls; Do those who accept recall have to go through the whole nine yards--full physical exam, full indoc.,just like a new hire?

Physical? Better not, but with AA who knows. Full indoc - I doubt it. Too expensive. Probably tailor the level of indoc to how long you were working prior to getting the boot, and how long you've been out. Just my guess...
