Default Proof that airline management is full of Ch!t...

http://www.king5.com/topstories/stor...cc511cf .html

I would assume that they knew the plane was not working when they took off the second time. I guess that is the Captains decision to go but management probably just figured get it in the air and they can hold their noses until it lands. Anyone have any insight?????

I'm not saying this didn't happen, but what's up with the single-source story? You've got one passenger that claims this happens to a local news outlet 3,000 miles away.

Default I still agree Zoot

Obstruction disrupts flight
Reports of a faulty lavatory on flight 71
from Amsterdam (AMS) to EWR have been
in the media. The June 13 flight was diverted
to Shannon, Ireland (SNN), and repairs were
made. The lavatory repair work in SNN indicated
good flow in the lavatory system. During
the flight from SNN to EWR, the problem
developed again. Upon landing in EWR, it
was determined that someone had flushed
latex gloves into the lavatory system, which
caused the obstruction. There is signage posted
in the onboard restrooms advising that foreign
objects are not to be discarded in the lavatory
system. Occasionally, these instructions
are overlooked.
CO deeply regrets the serious inconvenience
to its customers and is apologizing to them
and compensating them for the poor conditions
on the flight as well as the diversion and delay.

Pictures don't lie and that would be grounds for a lawsuit due to libel.

My point is that I believe(I could be wrong) management knew that the toilets would NOT work when the plane took off from Shannon, but did not want to fly another plane in.

Why do you believe that? Did the crew indicate somewhere that they were forced to fly the plane that way?

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they thought they had the problem fixed when they took off. What I'm wondering, is why they didn't simply make a tech stop at Gander on the return flight?

There have good mechanics there, and at the very least they could give the people in back a break. Not counting the amount of time for maintenance, they can easily unload, reload, and fuel in under an hour for a widebody.
