Default PAX Dont Think About What They Say

Last night while getting settled in to my seat to travel back to SEA for a short weekends rest there was a Dad and Daughter boarding. As they passed through the FC I heard the little girl say "Dad these seats are huge" the dad replied "yes they are and these people up here will get a big meal and better drinks too but we are sitting in the CHEPO SECTION and will have to buy extras if we want them" .

Question.....Do you think the Dad knows the price at which those CHEPO seats have came at???...Do you think he thought for one second that the person who made his reservation....issued him his boarding card.....checked him into the flight at the gate....will serve him the drinks and sell him those snacks and welcome him aboard...the person who is putting his bag into the cargo hold,,,,,,,the person who has carefully planned his route of flight and fuel load and lets not forget the Flight crew up front who have years of costly training that will make sure that they reach there destination safely and yes the MX people who make sure the AC is in proper working order. But lets not forget some of the above has been OUTSOURCED.

Do you think that Dad thought for one second that each of those people have taken pay cuts or started working for less now than they did ten years ago.

If you have the same thought process as the Dad just think about if your employer asked you to give back some of your earnings to help the company and the paying public....then think about the CEO who hasn't gave back near as much in comparison. After all if some of these airlines had not received concessions they might not be here today thus higher prices....

Well compared to the price of the first class seats, discount coach is "cheaper." I get yelled at by my wife for using the term "cheap" to imply "less costly." He probably was using similar vocabulary. Do we really need to get spun up over someone say cheap when they meant less costly?

Any why should they? Like it or not, you're there to provide a service. Do you care about how much effort a line cook at McDonalds puts into your burger? Or how about how much work the auto plant worker does to install the seats in your car? At the end of the day you, just like everybody else, want the best service for the least amount of money.

Don't get ****ed at the passengers for saying things like that. Your resentment will show through (and trust me- I've been on plenty of flights where the crew had resentment towards passengers and everybody else- some of the airlines I have vowed not to fly on again). A passenger doesn't control how much they can purchase tickets for, and like it or not, they are going to search for the best fares.

Instead of blaming your PAYING CUSTOMERS (who pay your paycheck by the way), blame improper managment and the lack of fiscal responsibility that has forced paycuts down your throats.

He's Right, they are cheapo seats; and they're grossly undervalued!

Oh- and not to be snide or anything (please don't take it the wrong way), but these days:

The customers are booking their own flights/making reservations. Customers are checking in and printing boarding passes (either at kiosks or at home). Customers aren't checking bags because they get lost on the way. Customers are bringing their own food/snacks because airlines are charging ridiculous amounts for food (and in some cases water and beverages).

Because of this they have grown to expect cheaper fares. Why? Because the service level has changed...

Oh brother! <sigh> GMAB! Screw those people. They want the world for $100. Paying your paycheck, blah blah blah

In any case, the answer to the thread starters question is:

NO

They haven't always wanted the world for $100. At some point people in our profession/industry were willing to give it to them. Now we see tickets for as cheap as $1 one way.

Who's fault is that? The passengers?
