Default American Airlines Question

How many days off do you get on reserve, and a junior line holder. Do you use Pref Bidding or something else. Is Chicago a junior or senior base. Just trying to do research on all the legacy carriers.

13 days on months with 31days, 12 on 30 day months. We don't have pref bidding at this time, but oh how management wants it. We'll se how things go in negotiations, gonna get ugly round here. Chicago is in the middle of senority, with LGA, MIA, and BOS probably the most junior.

Hope that helps, think we'll be hiring off the street somewher in 2009 with the number of guys they are having to go through to fill recall classes. That is of course without the age 65 crap coming down the road.

9 yr f/o and 4 stripes nowwhere in sight...

Good luck in Negotiations, give em hell and set the bar high for the rest of the legacy carriers.

Been there done that with AE. I do realize how lucky I was to get to AA, but someday I would love to drive the plane instead of just yanking the gear..GF

Lucky indeed! Out of curiosity were you a CA at AE? Did you flow or get hired off the street?

Wow! So it is true then that MIA is a junior base at AAL?? I've also heard the airbus is a junior bird to fly out of MIA. Is this true too? If so, it would be my dream come true.

I never upgraded at Eagle, but I did get hired at TWA for 6 months and then got hired by AA(at the time was the kiss of death to be at Eagle, due to the fact they would have to train two guys instead of just one). The bus is quite junior in LGA and MIA. Not sure how long they'll be around, but anything in LGA or MIA is junior realative to the rest of the system.

Good luck to you both hope we can get through the recall list in the next couple of years and open it up to the street...GF

Hey thats great!! I hope I can get on with AAL and get the MIA base on the Bus. From what I gather, AA will be keeping the bus for quite a while. It's a big money maker for the company is what I've been told. Thanks for the info!!

The Bus will be around for quite awhile, it is a huge moneymaker in the Carib. Also, whenever AA is in a hiring mode, MIA almost always goes the most junior.... probably 737I or 737D, with a few A300I slots mixed in. You'll probably have a choice of MIA, LGA (all 3 bases), and ORD. I do think we will be hiring off the street by 2009. We have 2500 on the street and have already gone through 700 in just 7 months of recalling! Good luck, see ya on the property soon. 73
