DAL is not dumb. Your background is scrutinized before you are offered an interview. Things like Masters degree, Awards, Leadership, and type of flying weigh very heavy. There is a list on the DeltaNet website that shows you what qualifications are important to DAL when selecting a pilot for an interview. The very fact you got an interview should be the first hint they what you. They did not ask you to come to an interview so they could meet a hot $hit test pilot with a smoking wife. All they have to do to meet someone like this is walk down to the crew room. The fact is DAL is very much into pedigree. With that said DAL does not like cocky, arrogant pricks who think they are TOPGUN.

For all of you in the psych ward stay hopeful. I had a good friend make it through and another guy from my class was held up as well.
Your reply has nothing to do with my post.

You describe how and who they decide to bring in. I agree with you.

I describe what they do with that select group after they arrive.

Apples and Oranges.

Oh, by the way, congrats on not maxing the test.

Actually it does, your deductive reasoning must not be on par. Your logic is flawed. Let's test it shall we?

Test 1 panel interview
This test determines the validity of your application and your decision making abilities. The passage of this test is not based on science, but on a persons opinion.

Test 2 job skills test
This is an easy test with plenty of gouge. Most people score well into the 90% range on this test.

Test 3 Short company psych test
This tests whether you think the glass is half full or half empty and honesty.

Test 4 Cog test
Test memorization and multi tasking. No one does perfect on this test and even if they did the data would only suggest you have a good memory and can do many things at once.

So I ask what is this magical test you speak of? Maybe it was broke the day I interviewed.

Honestly I don't care. Regardless, I don't think it is wise to give future interviewers the idea that they should aim for status quo.

Good luck to you in your future, I'm sure you will do just fine.

How can you say a company hires based on PEDIGREE but yet there is no arrogance/cockiness behind that???

Huh? I'm not sure you have read or understand my posts. Pedigree or background has to do with ones past. Arrogance/cockiness has to do with ones personality. There may be a correlation between them but probably not.

If you are saying that DAL's hiring practices are arrogant because they choose candidates that fit the pedigree or background they desire than I don't know what to tell you. If you don't think pedigree is "part of best man for the job" than you live under a shell.

For the record here's another mil guy (c17) held up by the psych test. I had the gray-bearded guy and he seemed to just stare at me the whole time. Very little dialogue. Maybe this is the way it goes in one of those offices? It was my first time in a psych eval, and was honestly the most awkward and uncomfortable experience of the whole interview process. The rest of the events -- especially the interview itself -- were almost pleasant.

Well, why should future interviewers not aim for status quo if hiring practices look HEAVILY into pedigree?...according to your posts/DAL website?

And IF you are hiring someone based on your perception if you can fly with them for several hours or not...there may be a hint of arrogance or self-pride behind that.?

I had the young Asian guy (I can't believe I just typed that), and it was pretty non-threatening. Had a normal chatty conversation. No tough questions and very cordial. (No rocking chair either, but I saw one in another room and commented that we must be in the wrong office.) Everything turned out fine in my case.

Go pound sand! I think it says a lot about your attitude to be harassing a guy who is obviously on pins and needles about the job already.
