New (& improved) Off-Line Jumpseat procedures for JetBlue
New Listing Procedure for OAL Pilots
Starting February 25, 2008 OAL Pilots will be able to call Crew Support to list for a Flight Deck jumpseat. The same number that we provide to our JetBlue Pilots will now open up to qualified OAL Pilots. This number is 1-801-365-2500, prompt #1, extension 6013.
We encourage all Flight Deck requests to be made prior to arrival at the airport; however, Airport Operations Crewmembers can still list Pilots at the airport. Pilots (JB and OAL) must still check in with an Airport Operations Crewmember at the ticket counter or gate no later than 10 minutes prior to departure for Domestic flights and no later than 60 minutes prior to departure on International flights.
The Airport Operations Gate Crewmember will still be responsible for verifying the requesting Pilot’s credentials (CREW ID) prior to issuing a jumpseat and clearing the Pilot in CASS prior to giving the Pilot access to an actual Flight Deck jumpseat.
With this new feature to flight deck requests, the Airport Operations Crewmember will not have to spend time on lengthy listing transactions. In the near future, we will also be re-introducing a Flight Deck Jumpseat Form for Pilots to fill out and give to the Gate Crewmember. The form is designed to assist the Gate Crewmember with listing and clearing Pilots. More details will follow as we near the release of this form.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can we ask OAL Pilots to list over the phone with Reservations?
A: No, OAL Pilots cannot list over the phone with Reservations. The will need to call Crew Support (1-801-365-2500, prompt #1, extension 6013) to list. Please note that communication to all OAL Pilot groups may take some time so you may encounter some Pilots unaware of the number. Additionally, if an OAL Pilot is in jeopardy of not making the cut-off time, please make the effort to accommodate the request.
Q: Can JetBlue Pilots list in advance over the phone?
A: Yes, for Flight Deck jumpseat listings, JetBlue Pilots should call 1-801-365-2500 prompt # 1, extension 6013. For cabin seats (non-rev) listings, JetBlue Pilots should call 1-800-JetBlue.
Q: Can we ask Flight Attendants (JB or OAL) to call this dedicated number to list?
A: No, Flight Attendants must call 1-800-JetBlue because there may be an OAL charge. Also, Crew Support will only list exclusively for the Flight Deck. All other non-revenue listings must be requested through 1-800-JetBlue, or at the airport.
Q: What is the cut-off time for listing and checking in jumpseat requests?
A: The cut-off time for listing and checking in for the jumpseat is no later than 10 minutes prior to departure for Domestic flights and no later than 60 minutes prior to departure on International flights. We encourage all Pilots to list prior to arrival at the airport. Flight Deck Listings can be made up to 7 days in advance of the intended flight.
Q: Who will check the jumpseat requestor’s ID / credentials?
A: As we do with all non-rev requests, upon check in at the airport, the Airport Operations Crewmember must verify the requestor’s ID / credentials and process the Customer. The Gate Crewmember must always check the requestor’s ID/ Credentials again prior to giving any seat or jumpseat.
Q: When do we have to verify Pilots through CASS?
A: All OAL Pilots MUST be cleared through CASS prior to granting a Flight Deck jumpseat. Should CASS deny cockpit access to an OAL Pilot, they would still be able to ride in a cabin seat provided all of the following requirements are met:
·A cabin seat is available
·The OAL Pilot has the proper ID
·The Captain allows use of the cabin seat
Winnipeg flights are maintenance ferry flights. No jumpseaters allowed.
As for the aft jumpseats....I believe OAL pilots go first (after company pilots), then OAL f/a's. Or, it might be first come first serve. I'll look in to that policy.

--------------------UPDATE-------------------
7. Flight Attendants or Certificated Airmen (Pilots, Flight Engineers and Dispatchers) from other U.S. Part 121, Part 135 and Canadian air carriers with which JetBlue has an agreement are authorized to use jumpseat privileges
This is after any and all JB qualified jumpseat riders have been acommodated. There is no mention as to who would go first (f/a or pilot) so it would be by time of check-in.
