This doesn't sound good. I take it to mean that there is a surplus of pilots in the category going into the busy summer season. Hopefully I'm reading it wrong.

That is hilarious. In other words, "We don't anticipate much flying in the 9 in June so you can take a leave if you want." "Of course if you choose to stay we will have to pay you anyway and you won't fly." I wonder how many will take that deal?

I'm in the MD at Alaska. Our 9 airplanes don't fly much so I am only flying about 7 days a month these days.

Overstaffed for the summer and cutting capacity after the summer with no growth airplanes doesn't look good. I thought NWA was still understaffed for the summer kinda like they were last summer.

It's not a bad deal for some folks...you can't backpack across Europe on reserve.

I'm guessing you guys are getting rid of them? How is the rest of the phase out plan going to work for the airplanes and you? Just curious, saw one of the MD's in DEN the other day.

I can't help but chuckle to myself as I read all the talking heads blather about this. Reminds me of "read my lips - no new taxes" "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" and "you'll be a captain in 4 years".

The fact is that you can say whatever you want and not be held responsible. I'll make sure and pass that ideology on to my children.
