I don't think that can happen, but I'm not 100% on that. What CAN happen is all capacity reductions happening on the NWA side of things, and thus all the furloughs. When the reductions are complete, hiring could begin on the Delta side with NWA guys still on furlough if management felt an increase on the DAL side was more appropriate. What would stop it all instantly is NWA agreeing to SLI terms agreeable to DALPA. It's called leverage.
Whether one-sided furloughs or hiring while another group is on furlough will actually occur is unknowable. The problem is that the strategy employed by DALPA thus far ALLOWS it to happen.
There is just enormous pressure right now on the NWA MEC. UAL/CAL need to take a lesson from this.
