A man was injured on Tuesday (14 February) at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after he jumped from a catering door located on the right-hand-side of a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 aircraft onto the tarmac when his flight landed.

According to The Associated Press, the passenger had exited a door that is usually accessible for crew members in case of an emergency and fallen 20 feet to the ground.

Delta flight 1047 was carrying 252 passengers and had just arrived at the Atlanta airport from Orlando, en route to Cancun in Mexico.

Cabin crew had reportedly stated that the passenger began behaving erratically approximately 15 minutes into the flight and had to be calmed down while the aircraft was still airborne.

The passenger was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was said to be in fair condition.

The incident is currently being investigated by the US Federal Aviation Administration and the airline.

Too bad that will count as an "accident" as far as the A/C and crew go. We had that happen at CAL in Quito or Lima I think and it resulted in 1 accident recorded for what would have been an otherwise accident-free year.
