Any history of a sickout at American ???

Yes...sickout over the Reno Air integration leading to a $45 million judgement against the APA that was somewhat forgiven by AMR during contract 2003'.

If my memory serves me correctly (and that's a stretch), but the APA was not fond of the acquisition of TWA. However as terms to agree with AMR, the APA was able to award their pilots with longevity credit for years on furlough, free reign to integrate the TWA pilots any way they wanted, and forgiveness on some of the $45 million judgement as a result of the sickout.

AAny of my NAAtive AAmerican friends like to clAArify this.

FF your timeline is totally off.
Almost all of that never happened in 2003.
On the 2003 contract the remaining $45 million was forgiven for the work rules loss and changes and 23.5% pay cuts.

Longevity credit for those that were on furlough happened in 1999.

TWA Feb 2001.

I believe ALPA could have fought for what you think you deserve. Where was ALPA FliFast?

Now back to this thread topic.
AA is trying to find pilots with pattern sick calls and council and or punish them. I don't know what the patterns are, but most people are saying if you call in sick before or after vacation that is suspect abuse.
Just what i've heard.

When I was at Colgan, everytime I called in sick it was like playing 20 questions. Maybe some people get a hard on trying to pick the fakers out of a bunch. I finally learned when they asked why I was sick I just told them I am sick and thats all you need to know.

Years ago and after a strike, the company tried the same thing. After a number of pilots graphically described their illness, which many or may not have been the real thing , it stopped.

I can see CJC doing that talking to some of the dispatchers who are so far left of being by the book it is rediculous.

One of the countless pieces of advice I have heard from my grandfather (Eastern casualty) is that when you call in sick simply state as you said "I am calling in sick." You owe them nothing as far as the who, what, where, when and why of the situation and will only dig yourself a hole. If they want a doctors note he then said get nothing more than what was already mentioned such as "MR. X was seen in my office on XX, XX, 2008"

It's the Chief pilots office at AA that is doing this. It is not crew scheduling.
They never ask what's wrong with you when calling in sick.

Your rhetoric makes me believe you're a nAAtive and not a "Red Tail".

To answer your question as to where ALPA was; they were in bed with APA during this timeframe trying to schmooze them over into membership prior and after the TWA buyout announcement at which point was suddenly stopped yet a secret PO Box remained open. Of course, this will come out in the court trial. Stay tuned! To say the least, the depositions are very revealing.

7576,

Thanks for the clarification. I see trying to be "nice" and respectful to you is about as useful as sunglasses for Helen Keller. It's always a surprise to see your anger, when you were on the conquering side of the equation.

What the Sam Hill does ALPA have to do with it. Your APA lost the $45 million sickout judgement, not ALPA.

My "timeline" may be almost totally wrong, but your tone is AArogant.

Jan 2001 TWA Deal announced.
Merger date April 10, 2001.
My seniority date, thanks to you and your union that you "dont have a say in", June 10, 2001.

You forgot to mention in contract 2003' - no furlough protection that led to 1890 TWA pilots losing their jobs. As a NAAtive pilot you forgot to mention that because it doesn't affect you.

If you don't like it at American, then leave. There are plenty of furloughed TWA pilots wanting your spot.

Now back to the thread.
If you don't feel mentally and/or physically fit to perform your job or you could pass along an illness to co-workers stay home. If you want to call in sick when you are healthy, then...well I'll defer to my pal, 7576....

FF

"I was acquired, because I couldn't get hired." American Airlines employees mantra towards the TWA employees.
