Prater's personal views for or against it don't matter. ALPA's views didn't matter either; it is government rule change.
To keep matters clear; I was against age 65. I'm young and junior.

Dead WRONG!!!! Sorry to break the news to you.
This issue of age 65 change in Dec. 07, was DEAD, stuck in the Transportation Spending Bill, which was going Nowhere, because of Dem/Rep partisian differences. DEAD in the Water.
Enter alpa, who got Sen. Ted Stevens (and his counterpart in the House) to remove the provision from the Transportation Spending Bill and have it put before the Senate (and then the House), as a separate independent Bill/issue. That was the 'only' way that it passed; as the Transportation Authorization Bill Never was going to pass (and still hasn't been). And, if not passed by the time congress ended its term in Dec. would have been Dead, and 're-introduced' in the new session and probably would have been difficult in an election year, as almost nothing get passed.
BLAME PRATER AND alpa, as maybe 'age 65' would have passed, but probably not for another year or so.
WAKE UP, the leadership of alpa does Whatever THEY Want, and NOT what the membership wants.
Bye.
