Default 2009 Hiring Outlook...

I know SWA is going to be active for the next 18 months, and I am one of 40,000 applicants standing in line, but I was curious if anyone else was going to be doing any hiring anytime soon. Any good news out there? I know this is a tough time to make the leap from corporate to 121...

Im trying to make the move now while I am still single with no kids, as opposed to sucking the life out of my family and dragging them through the mud so I can sit on reserve for a decade
But seriously, I am curious if any of the majors are going to be doing anything besides throwing pilots out on the curb next year...

Heard jetBlue is getting 8 E190's in 2009, hiring to begin in January.

I have always wanted to fly for 121 airlines but it does not seem worth it anymore. I cannot afford to go back to making less then 40 grand again and having to commute or live in an overpriced city. SWA is about the only 121 passenger hauler that I would ever consider but lets face it their are thousands of RJ captains just chomping at the bit to get on. I do enjoy the Charter side of flying much more then I thought I would, its just fun flying and it may be more stable then the airlines. I say it maybe more stable because my flying has went down substantially since last year. In my opinion the way to make it in this career is to make as much money as possible and keep moving up in pay not taking a cut for 5 years just so you get to fly cool equipment. This seems to be getting harder to accomplish.

Interesting about Jetblue, whats the story with DAL, I read that they might become active in a few months, any truth to this?

Maybe. Some are saying hiring to begin this fall (octoberish), others are saying springtime. I know we are short on the -88 but overstaffed on the 75/76 domestic. Might see displacements rather than new hires on the -88.

He is how I learned to shoot the Maverick on the ground, or was it the Hades bomb? My Iron Eagle 3-1 knowledge is sort of weak.

"Dang it Chappy, I'm doing it my way!"
