At least it's actually embroidered and doesn't look like there's a patch about 3 sizes too large glued to it.

Well, I think if a passenger ever asks a question like that it's best to contact your company and request an alco-test.
I'm shutting the whole damn thing down and gettin' a cop. I'm going to DEMAND a test........of course, I don't drink............anymore.

A friend of mine had that happen about two years ago. Some smart ass made a comment about drunk pilots. The captain looked at him, said something to the effect of "you just caused everybody on this plane to be delayed 4 hours" and called dispatch. About three hours later, the flight departed with the same crew and some very angry passengers.

I don't think I'll drink on overnights when I get back. It's not even worth the risk any more.

Just stick to the FAA rules, how hard can that be? Much more generous than USAF regs. I'm amazed at how loose the FAA stuff is after 20 years in the USAF. Don't be stupid, is that too much to ask?

Personally I can't see this rule being around for too much longer. It only encourages drinking and for those on the fence it just makes it harder for them.

The pilot called in sick. Gee, he reeked of alcohol from the bottle of NyQuil he just downed to be able to survive the flight home. And worse, he wore the uniform so he could take the second bottle of NyQuil through thousands standing around. Further, he was about to toss his cookies on those passengers thus took off for the nearest restroom.

Of course, another possibility is he was drunk off his skull, called in sick because he knew he wasn't qualified to be a pilot, and as he's been pulling the red-eye flights, thus his "night before" ended at 8-9 AM that morning or whatever SWA's bottle-to-throttle rule is.

So who did the passenger call first? TV News or TSA?
We don't have red eye's.

A friend of mine told me he took that route a couple years ago when we went through the last rash of this. Said it wasn't worth the risk any longer. He also told me that I should consider it when I start with the company. Sounds like REAL good advice.

You flew with them? You should have convinced them to call in sick and report themselves to HIMS.......if you really thought they were impaired.

Apparently He did!

If I was his attorney, I would say that the pilot in question was reporting in uniform after calling in sick to request help from the HIMS program formally. He removed his uniform after the passenger confronted him only for the purpose of avoiding any more unnecessary poor publicity for SWA. His intention was to continue to report himself to HIMS when he got interdicted by the local constabulary.

Remember folks.....we have this as an awesome resource (HIMS). While the above example is tongue in cheek to a certain extent. If you know of someone with a problem, you ought to do what you can to get him or her to partake. You may lose a friendship, but you will most likely save lives, careers, marriages, and family relationships.
