Default 737 System Question Boeing Drivers

OK.....need an easy question answered.....

In regards to the Maste Caution system on the 737, if you receive a Master Caution along with the annunciator, if you push the master caution to get rid of the light, does the annunciator also go out?????

Have never flown the 737, was typed 5 years ago and don't remember... Both books I have contradict themselves. Any help would be appreciated.

Pushing the master caution will cancel the light and arm it so the next event will light it to alert you. If you want to find out what lit the master caution in the first place you push the recall panel and it will direct you to the system that has the problem.

The annunciator on the glareshield recall button extinguishes, but the caution light itsef remains illuminated. For example, a fuel pump fails, MC and FUEL annunicator illuminate, along with the respective LOW PRESSURE light at the pump switch on the overhead. When the MC is reset the only thing left illuminated is the LOW PRESSURE light on the overhead.

If it is a single channel failure of a dual channel system such as Mach Trim, Auto Slats, or Zone Temp, then the annunciator and caution light only illuminate when recall is pressed and everything extinguishes when the MC is reset, since the overall system is still functioning.

The illumination of a "Master Caution Light" provides you w/ a visual "oops" that a system annunciator light is also probably lit up, perhaps outside our normal scan. Both caution lights should remain lit until the problem is resolved. If you press either light switch, you will extinguish both the "Master Caution" lights. This will extinguish the (problem annunciator) too, and should re-set the "Master Caution" if we have any other non-normals coming our way. Look up single system failures and how the amber caution light comes on. That has been a topic of discussion for along time...Hope this helps
