My wording was poor, but you get the gist.

You said "it does nothing for the commuter that wants...." You obviously described the best case scenario for a commuter. Our schedules may not be the best for commuters, but I believe they are at or above industry average in terms of sign in/out and credit for 4 days. 4 days off is also an industry leading provision that caters primarily to commuters' lifestyles.

I am in complete agreement with your comment about premium pay. Also, the disregard for circadian rythm in the pairing construction is appauling.
Roger all, we're on the same page. I'm just a bit cynical of what I take to be koolaide and over reacted. And I have maybe higher expectations based on my rose colored memory of our past. This used to be Ned's Flying Club. Show at seven fly DTW TPA DTW, go home. That, my friend is the way it should be

I don't fully agree with that. As far as a big score, yes it is true. But I have been getting a conflict worth 15-20 hours 3-4 days off every other month since I have reached top 60%. Since I have been above 40% I ended up with a conflict 6 times out of 8 this year. And one I screwed up myself because I did not realize that carry in counts against your credit. I did have some huge payoffs like over 30h credit and 6 off. But that is not the rule for sure.

But one thing I do have to point out. I totally do not care what my line is (as long it is not a full red eye one... f that) or who I am flying with when I am bidding. All I am looking at, will this give me a conflict, and will it set me up for one for the next month. The rest gets traded out anyhow.

If I would be picky, I want this and that off, etc... no... then I would not be able to get my conflicts most the time. So all this does come at a price.

So when all this is done, my schedule ain't pretty.

So true. I bid conflicts May-August. I'm around 40% in seat in base (so I do have some seniority, which helps), and am averaging 18 days off, 50-60 hours of block and 90+ hours of credit June-Aug. I do NOT call scheduling to 'work a deal' - contract compliance is very important to me, as is not flying fatigued. No red-eye turns and no exceeding 12.5 hours either. As you can see, I average 5+ hours of flying when I do work, so I'm not bidding lots of soft time trips here.

Transition conflicts work, but you've got to devote your entire bid to it, and you have to set it up one month prior too. You won't be getting a conflict in Sept. if you needed a particular day off in August. Weekends off or commutable trips (or ANYTHING besides bidding 100% for conflicts, honestly) will also torpedo any chance at using this bidding strategy.

It takes a couple hours to do your bid each month too - this stuff isn't easy to set-up, especially the 29/7 conflicts.

Obviously, I'm not a fan of PBS. I'd probably give up transition stuff for things like: 1.5 credit for voluntary pick-up, no more trip averaging, and/or a better trip rig (4.5/day for multi-day pairings is too low, let alone 4.0 for day trips). I'm willing to work hard for the company, I just want to make sure that when I go to work, I work, not sit around. Rigs like Southwest (min day of 5.25 hours, .6 duty rig) would incentive the company to build trips like Southwest has.

2nd quarter results out, 34.6 million profit. Other numbers are pretty impressive as well:
Spirit Airlines Increases Second Quarter Adjusted Net Income 35.4% While Lowering Average Base Fare per Flight Segment to $81.06 (NASDAQ:SAVE)

Default Conf Call.

I missed a lot, this is what I can remember.

All new dest for 2013, announced. Planing to connect dots from now on.

Opened several new routes.

Serving 20 of 25 top metro areas in the US.

24 hour rule from DOT slightly hurt Q1 to Q2 revenue

Seat issues (mtx) adds to CASM and to continue thru Q3 '12, and Q4, should start to decrease at the end of Q4 beginning on 2013.

About AA and Dallas:

merger? Ben -no comment-
AA merger? Ben -no comment-
AA partnership? Ben -no comment-

we have gone head to-head with AMR for years in FL, and probably does not see Spirit as a problem at the moment, we are not after AA's business travelers.

Dallas growth is not related to AA's bankruptcy.
We planned it before AA's bankruptcy.

Futures:

August bookings are good, no indicators of downturn economics, and or negative effects on spirit.

300 potential new markets. Fleet around 200 ac's (+/-).

Aircraft financing, 2012 and 2013 deliveries NK is in the process of awarding that business now.

Cancellations have increased due to seat mtx, added cost for reaccommodation of passengers,

Completion factor for Q2 98.5% '12, 99.4% Q2 '11

No comments on new bases, yet!

Where there is indications of higher YOY, NK will increase flights, where there is a decrease, NK will pull back. All about keeping AC's full and making money.

Thats all I got. From conf call.

Please feel free to add on.
