True, but judging from the way he has handled this merger, I think Anderson realizes the importance of having a employment/pilot group on management's side. There were probably many different ways that management could have embittered the two pilot groups by batting one against the other through this merger.
Anderson appears to be aware of the importance of having a happy pilot/employee that is on the same side as management. Ultimately treating the employees like garbage will turn the final DAL-branded service product into garbage as well. I don't necessarily agree with "slacking off" as a way to hurt the company, but with a group of 12,000+ pilots I can guarantee there are those who will "slack off" as a form of retribution to managment.
Management is still management at the end of the day, so i don't expect our union people will have a walk in the park when 2012 comes around, but it's nice to see that management is willing to flex slightly to keep the pilots happy. The pilot groups went above and beyond to make this merger work and I think the company sees that the expectations will be high.
