Perhaps a limit, if .05% of the pilots want the CDOs, than make that the max allowed limit +/- a small percentage, same for 5/12/13 days.

CDOs have no place in major airline ops. They are onerous at best. And if allowed, will have a ripple effect throughout the bid packages as trips are changed to allow for the CDOs. We need to protect what we have, for example; Some people want to sell their vacations... should we permit that? Just for those who want to? Would it affect others?

A majority of FOs can get in via the backdoor. If you're on the ATL 717 you can't, you can try, but it just won't happen.

We had a 50% vacation sell back in our 1996 contract, and the senior guys sold it back, stagnating the movement of the junior guys.

There was much outcry, so we got rid of it in C2K.

But what we have today with PBS 100% vacation sell back! In every vacation month, after the bid run your vacation time goes away (off your max pickup), so you can white slip a trip to 'replace' 100% of your vacation time, in effect, you just sold it all back.

If you want to hear the company (and many pilots) really scream, just tell them you want to eliminate that feature in C2015!

Have CQ coming up and the FO has a Z next to the sim type. IE: 601Z. Any ideas what that means?

It means they will be doing the couple of extra items required to have the SIC restriction removed from their type rating. They will have to taxi the aircraft and perform a RTO from the left seat.

The reason was that they knew it didn't have a prayer of passing unless they could slip it past us. Most of us didn't know what the term "split duty period" even meant. When the cat got let out of the bag on the forums and people figured out it was CDO's... well, the rest is history. Or is it?

In any case, it's just like you said... huge failure at the MEC level. Or more accurately, their plan to slip these things past us didn't work.

If it wasn't for this forum we would have CDO's in our contract right now.
Yep. So why are we considering them again?
