Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Is that due to his contract brilliance, or right-place/right-time? There simply don't seem to be many (if any) GS for the 717B crowd. With the amount of reserve coverage in place, IROPS or last-minute changes seem to be the only time they crop up from what little I've seen. No predicting the IROPS, and last-minute is (will be) a challenge for me as a commuter....
I'm happy to be wrong--is there something I can/should do to improve my chances of joining the GS fraternity??

I'm senior on the 717 FO side. The GS have pretty much dried up. They've finally gotten the FO staffing up to full numbers. Most days are blue for the month now-a-days. These days you pretty much have to live in base and get one when in IROPS and they run out of short call guys. It was good while it lasted. My W-2 will be embarrassingly high for an FO on the smallest equipment on property while averaging about 25 hours of block a month.
The LCA thing. You don't necessarily need the employee numbers. Like some one said, there is a PBS command of "award trip if line check airman". The catch on that one is this: You've got to be a little careful about what you'll take. A good many of the LCAs on the 717 are junior, and some get pretty crappy trips. If you get paired with him on one of those, watch out, because he's likely trying to drop/swap it. If he's successful, guess what. You're doing it unless you can also dump it. I bid with them but have a personal cut-off as to trip quality that I'm not willing to roll the dice with. Luckily for me, I'm high enough that 90% of mine are LCA and they are practically always taken. I'd say we've got another year or so to ride this train until it it's back to normal.
Also.....easyswap.....works good. lasts long time.

I don't know of a list, you've just got to look at the trip in open time and look for the LCA. I've seen them in there, but they usually go quick.

I don't think you'll get the graduate level info your asking for on a public forum... if too many guys learn this stuff, junior guys like me would be dead in the water... luckily, most senior guys are too lazy to learn this stuff.
Once you've learned the basics (contract) ask the guys you fly with (the ones who know and successfully manipulate the contract) and you'll get up to speed very quickly.

Thanks for the education.
Dude, you're sharp shooting way to early in your career. You're gonna waste a lot of valuable oxygen. You got lucky. Why don't you concentrate on probation and consolidation?
The only way to know who the LCAs are is to see LCA by their name on a rotation. And that doesn't guarantee it's an OE.
This is the entitlement philosophy that I abhor. Do your job first. If you must, game the system later. How long have you been on property Juggy?

Well said!
Original Jughead
Consolidation went off without a hitch; probation is <*knock wood*> likewise going smoothly, thankyouverymuch. I do "do my job first," I do it very well, and I resent any implication to the contrary (particularly from someone not in a position to hold any opinion of my performance). You've evidently been at this for quite a while if you cannot recall what it's like to be a new hire struggling to understand an entirely new world. If you don't recall a time when figuring out scheduling, PBS, PWA, etc. issues was far more challenging than learning to fly a new airplane, good for you--but I ain't there yet, not by a long shot.
Not sure how it's relevant, beyond confirming what I've already said about being new, but since you ask: on property about 4 months. Extremely happy to be here. Learning as fast as I can everything there is to being successful, with no intention of stopping until I've uncovered everything relevant to my career, my QoL, and my income (more or less in that order of priority).
Or is this a distinction between a trip one has bid for via PBS monthly bidding, vs a trip swapped with the pot for during the month (as was the case for my trip that started this conversation)?
Sounds like you're implying that to be truly successful as a Schedule Ninja one must be on Reserve? Not a tradeoff I'm willing to make--I'm shocked & ecstatic to have gotten a line after spending less than one month on Reserve, and, as a commuter, that's far more important to my QoL than the ability to snag a GS (or any other additional flying).
Thank you!
As I am discovering as I type this from the comfort of my living room!!
Thanks, All, for the input/help!

Oh, not really. I admittedly got a bit down the rabbit hole after I started by asking two on-point questions about having a trip bought, but I'm hardly "sharp shooting" (out of ignorance, if nothing else!)....
Um, wait... what?!? I'd take exception to that, but I'm frankly too curious to get angry. How on earth did you get a sense of entitlement out of a new guy asking questions in an attempt better to understand his new-to-him work rules/work environment/contract??

I am also a newbie. Don't understand how we have to concentrate only consolidation and getting off probation and nothing else. So us newbies can't ask questions about the contract and how to maximize our earning potential until we are off probation?
This is a forum for information. Many new hires read and learn about stuff here that is not taught in the classroom.
