I'm fairly certain that YOU are the one who needs a psych exam.

You Rotten Bastages!

I'm going to have to learn to sleep with one eye open too!

Next time I go to the lav, I'm taking the crash axe with me!
I'm generally a humorous guy, but joking about a crash where 150 innocents died a horrible death seems a bit much.

Perhaps a smidge too early Timbo. Perhaps we can talk about One Direction splitting up.

So from what I've heard this lunatic had around 600 hours TOTAL. Is that correct? And just over 100 in the A320? I have to wonder how much time he got on the bus during his training. In other words, how many flights did he have before this tragedy in which he was officially "checked out"?

I wouldn't be surprised if they find it wasn't just coincidence that he was new to the aircraft, recently checked out with the company, and depressed to the point of willing to murder so many. Yes, it's conjecture, but I think there was something besides mental illness/depression/jilted love involved here. There is, IMO, a strong possibility he had been planning this for quite some time.

One of my friends (at another airline) was getting chronically micromanaged and he told the skipper to take all the legs. He said he didn't need the currency and was happy to work the radios. The Alpha-dude loved it and my buddy flew the rest of the trip in peace. Win win.
As an FO I'm a lot closer to the "who really cares" category but not everyone is. As a Captain I did 1-2-2-etc and gave the commuter the last leg. I gave new guys most legs.

Your friend has hit on the antidote to micromanagement. I've never seen it that bad but I'm sure those guys are out there. A really nice benefit of our job is that if we can't stand our co-workers we only have to deal with them for at most* five days.

*I know 12 day trips exist but they don't have very many legs and you have a second FO with whom to commiserate.

That's either margarita mix or something I would have slipped into my leg pockets before I got out.

Either way: F16 guys know how to party.

For me, it's never too early for jokes, but I respect those who are not ready.

Maybe it's Irish black humor. My siblings and I laughed so hard at my father's post funeral reception - one of the neighbors got offended. (My father would have been proud of that, BTW).

Everybody's different.

I don't like to offend anyone, but the way I see it, very rarely a bad time for humor.

And they sang,

Someone's knocking at the door,
Someone's ringing the bell
Do me a favor, open the door, let him in.

DL's shrink might have committed suicide but didn't let in any pilots that did, in the plane, anyway

Not the ones I've flown with.

Guess I've flown with a lot of "buzz kill" aces though.
