I have no idea what that has to do with talking about this tender and unchangeable subject. When you offer up your position on this as though somebody needed to be "eaten alive" for it, that shows a great deal of pure dumb.

Moderators should know better.

Agreed. It would also be nice to not be permanently deaf in my left ear from having to lift the earcup so I can hear the other guy over the roaring noise in the cockpit. I wish more 737 guys would be down with the rubber band trick. So far I've flown with exactly 2 Captains in 6 months that wanted to use the rubber band.

It's kinda crazy that we don't have a user-friendly interphone system in the modern era. Couple that with a noisy 1960's-ish cockpit and we will all be deaf by the time we mandatorily retire at 75.

The funny thing is, what price should a bag be and who should determine that? Same as what price should a car be? What price should a haircut be? What price should a train ticket be? The list goes on and on with really just one question that needs to be answered - what gives them the authority to determine the price of anything in an unregulated industry?

If they want to take pricing power away then we need subsidies.

I really must agree here with Carl, Moderators need to watch this line of thinking and expression carefully. As a pilot that is feeling the effects of this MD ( I still have not told my wife) like many others, it serves no purpose at all to link anything posted today with anything about SLI. For the only reason it serves no purpose. With all the downside of this bid noted, the fact that we are working together (a fact which I am proud of when asked by other air carrier pilots) we are in a good spot in tough times. Of course it is everyone's hope that things will get better, I am certainly one of them but feeding the cancer of division only makes our jobs that much tougher.

off my soap box........

Love some of the comments:

"I just shake my head when I look at this and people are like, "yeah good for her." There is such a fundamental misunderstanding that we the people have for our government and their role. I remember when I was young, I used to aspire to work in the government because I thought our best and brightest were there. Now after a lifetime of promises by the government to improve things, I have seen their failed, while well intentioned, results. Why do we look to the government to fix these things? What evidence is there that they are capable? Why do they think this is a good idea? It's a whack a mole strategy for a few measly votes. People will think yeah this lady is doing this for us, when it's actually going to hurt you down the road. I'd love to be able to have a true conversation with someone about why this is a good idea and why the government has this authority. Unfortunately, that's almost next to impossible because we just start yelling at each other. When do we ask the question, is this the role of the government to tell businesses how to operate or are we better off to vote with our wallets? Without government power to dole out, the corporations and business have nothing to lobby for.
