You really don't want individual pilots cutting deals with the company. In the end everyone is better served if the contract is followed. What you essentially said was I would like to stay in my category and am willing to fly the aircraft for less then my fellow pilots. You are bidding your pay rate.
You also create a issue that you might be senior to other pilots in the category. Your could be taking flying that belongs to them. Someone might very well file a grievance and the company is sure to loose. Neither the company or ALPA want to go down this route.
The company does have some contractual options to bypass pilots moving up with limited time left. I don't however believe any of those options apply to moving down. There were only 6 mandatory displacements off the 73N in the last bid. There were not a huge number of pilots involved.
Sailing, I happen to agree with everything you said, but how about this : according to the PWA, the company can refuse to honor my AE award if I am within "X" months of retirement. A junior pilot can be given my award, and abrogate my seniority....that is fiscally responsible and passes the sniff test for the reasonable man.........however, it doesn't work going down, resulting in a monumental waste of money that is probably needed for more outsourcing......I got tagged this time, might be you sometime in the future.
My hope remains that all DAL pilots will reclaim their position of respect and help restore our once proud profession .

Kind of wonder if they are giving a gentle nudge towards retirement ... not that it is personal, when the junior guys were asking about leaves to avoid displacement the CPO stated an 12 to 18 month request would likely be accepted.
Furloughing has its own costs, but there is little doubt we are overstaffed right now.
I'd wait for better conditions, but truthfully when you live here, you become a "snow snob."
Wasatch:
Came up and skied Alta. Not too bad in the morning, but clouded up and got windy after lunch. Rented skis/poles at Canyon Skis south of the Radisson. The 'Techs' said it was a good thing I got the damage coverage. Lots of 'sticks and stones,' but it beat sitting in the hotel!
What happened to individual responsibility? The "banks" didn't force jackasses to sign, did they?

And the highly educated, trained and compensated 'experts' who are supposed to investigate and verify loan applications then approve said loans to people who, by long-held banking and loan practices can not reasonably be expected to re-pay those loans.
If you give people money, under the above conditions...which did occur, it's called............... A GIFT.
The banks, Fannie and Freddie Mae, etc... screwed up and should have paid the price, with NO bailout, IMMHO.

Why it is that way is not the point. Unfortunately, common sense does not often apply and if they make exceptions for this (that makes sense) then when do you stop. It sucks for you but maybe (in some small print somewhere) it should be fixed. Anyone with less than ???? doesn't have to be MD'd. Probably way below noise level compared to all the major priorities to be fixed with this contract.
Hey, it's a Flight Attendant Rumor, which means it's true!
All 777 flying will be moved to LAX and MCO.
It's just that nobody in Marketing has dictated the closure to the Mushrooms in the Flight Ops. Dept... yet.
The bid will be out in 4-6 weeks.
Oh, and the 5 year plan changes every 3 weeks.
SSDD
I can tell ya, I did not hear it from any FA's. but you know, they seem to know more than the average pilot.
I heard this a while back and then a few of the LCA's that I have flown with have stated such. Of course the five year plan changes every two weeks.....
