Now according to multiple single point sources, it sounds like the decision to furlough is on hold. Never off the table, but right now they want the bodies. Our leaders want to nitpick AMR, UAUA, and LLC as it becomes possible. To do that they are willing to take a chance, for now and keep the carrying costs of the pilots on the books. I am sure that if the loads drop again or we aggressively cut summer 2010 more than 5% we will revisit this.
It came down to one meeting, and they opted to keep the bottom 200-500.
I will say. I am floored. I figured they would do it. From what I have been told they are saying that an opportunity to take advantage of another carrier will happen within the next 22.5 months since that is the ROI on a furlough investment.

No furloughs for now. As always, subject to change.
Not Myopic. If an E-195 can replace a DC-9, then pay it at DC-9 rates. Don't really give a Rats A** about someone not yet hired at DAL. Concerned that a DC-9 is parked and that pilot is paid 18-22% less to fly the same range, speed, payload airplane
How about the all the junior pilots on property that would LOSE THEIR JOBS as a result of not capturing the E195 @ mainline?!? Unbelievable!
Friend...who's talking about outsorcing 100 seat jet flying? I'm saying if you want to replace the DC-9 with E-195 then pay DC-9 rates. Hell I won't be flying that E-195, but you will. Do you realy want to fly that for a 20% discount? If you do, ya need a drug test...........
It's better than flying it at Compass or being furloughed. Do you want to outsource it to Republic where their first officers top out at $37/hour and their captains make mid $70's with no work rules? Like Republic, we should not have put such low 195 rates in the contract if we are not willing to fly it for that. We can always fix the low pay rate next contract. You won't have to fly it anyway.
Can you explain this thought process? First, I dont see BB selling his E175s. Second, Compass is maxed on airplanes. I don't even thInk this rumor is possible with our current PWA & LOAs.
I could be wrong but I don't think that Compass is maxed out on airplanes - They ARE maxed out on the heavier 175's but I don't think there are limits on the total number of planes they can have (outside the overall scope limits). So - they could buy the RAH 175's as long as they were operated at the lower weight limits, right?
I say bring them over to CPS - it's just that many more seats covered by the flow agreement.

I don't think he is for outsourcing that airplane. Some people on here seem to be pulling for the 195 to replace the dc9 at mainline. Why in the world would you want to replace the dc9 with a similar sized airplane that pays 20% less. That is just the dumbest things I have seen on here.

Who says you haven't captured the 195 flying? The regionals haven't captured it because they can't fly it. You've captured/held on to it already. Management just doesn't want to buy it.
This is a rerun of the B-scale arguments from 25 years ago. Is it better to get the airplanes and fix the rates later, or stand on principle lest all rates be pulled down? Management said they wouldn't hire without a B-scale, but some thought they were bluffing. We never found out, because a B-scale was agreed to and the rates were fixed later. Despite this fairly benign outcome, hard feelings persisted for a long time, and those "not yet hired" eventually became the majority.
