* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts: $385

Love this, Sambo.... Well put.

No I'm not a nazi and I have a heart. Tough love is still love.

If you get a goobermint check, you have to work for it. Charity is for charities to administer, not goobermints.
I completely agree. It is sad that we have paid years for people to be on welfare when we could have mandated that they complete some time of educational or vocational training. It is in our best interest to do so.

I know a dentist. Bought out the old guy and took over the practice 5 or 6 years out of college. Old guy gets to come in 3 days a week, if that much. Practice is in South Florida, so he's busy in winter, slack in summer. Lives on the water, addicted to boats. Makes plenty but not $300k.

And he's absolutely bored to tears. Hygienists do all the work. That "file" he looks at when he comes in? It's all crib notes on you, so he can pretend he remembers you. "Oh hey, how's Delta? Kids doing okay?" He pokes around for 5 minutes, claps you on the back, heads back to the office to look at Boat Trader. Maybe gets to pull a tooth or do a root canal once a week if he's lucky.

I can see his mid-life crisis coming a mile away. The only question is: what form will it take?

Anybody have the TSO'd uflymike in QC-15's?
I am thinking about taking the plunge and
had some questions.

Basically want to know if the earbuds can be removed or "tucked away" so that it isn't annoying when used as a normal noise cancelling headset for iPod/computer use.

Insiders have any thoughts on what may happen?
I worked at the OPS Center in Kabul for ISAF in 2008 for 6 months. As long as Afghanistan is still going the charters won't cease. The Military(AF mostly) does not have any internal system of Passenger movement. Its too expensive to move troops in the big grey jets I used to fly. So as long as that theater still needs people the charters will continue.

When I was leaving the AF in 2010 the money was drying up for Guard and Reserve, Active Duty was taking back most or all of the flying the reserves had. My SQ saw a huge influx of Reserve guys coming back to Active Duty. The O-5's saw this as a chance to deploy most of them and keep the young guys flying.

This dentist discussion reminds me of something I read a couple years ago.

It was one of these top ten jobs lists you see, but the category was something like top ten professional jobs with the highest dissatisfaction.

Dentist was #1.

Not too surprising when you think about it.

Other than good pay, what is being a dentist? Nobody you see all day truly wants to be there, half of them really HATE being there and don't enjoy it, and you look at the inside of people's mouths!! One week is the same as another.

I guess the only somewhat fun part would be talking to the variety of patients you see, but even that's only a 3 minute "stop & chat" before either sending them on their way, or injecting novocaine into their gums and watching them grimace for the next hour.

The down side is if you are awarded a max credit line, your schedule may be front loaded with trips just before training.
I have never held a line, is it possible to get PBS to award me a line with the credit I will be bringing in with me due to training? Another question if I try to put all my x days before my training with a reserve line will I still get 70 hours of pay?

I had the same question...same scenario going into the noisy cockpit of the 73. from the research out there on the web, it sounds like guys don't wear the earbuds under the cups unless they are flying with the guy who keeps the lights off, and eyes glued to the panel during the 5 hour redeye! yup..we have all flown this those guys!! My question is can you hear the other CA with the left earcup covering your ear during cruise? have not heard one guy not like the setup

Does anyone know where I can find a "travelcard" for my family on DeltaNet? We used to get a "Letter of Introduction" from the Chief Pilot's office for our families to take on vacation to help with hotel and car discounts.
