Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
What is the deal with crew scheds always giving you SC on your first day back from days off. Without fail, always SC on the first day back. So dumb. How about using SC strategically to help out scheduling in a pinch. Nope, won't do that. They go with the non sequitur of assigning it to your first day back from days off.
I live in base so it does not matter to me when I get SC. I just find it horribly annoying that it's always on the first day back and that crew scheduling is that simple. I would hope that they use SC to help themselves out but I do not believe that to be the case. I really believe they hand it out willy nilly. So dumb.
Rant over
As a side note, I'll bet pineapple guy loves the fact that they do that. It's a shiv in the ribs of commuters.

Demand it be changed in the PWA. Yes, its BS for the commuters, but as you know us apologist will state, it is total legal under the current agreement.
My guess is that they are doing it on the first day back because that is when you have your maximum availability. Remember, pretty soon SC will be somewhat seniority based which will give you control over this.
Those of you fretting over seniority in reserve assignments wrt the senior guys not flying, I wouldn't count on that. Many commuters like myself would YS a trip to avoid SC or just to have a known commute... Or in an attempt to fill up which means the more junior pilot may be the one not flying.
Instead of the current system where you guess if you're going to get SC because it is at the whim of the scheduler at that moment. I just want it computerized and open, free the schedulers to do other stuff like monitor. After all, it's why we love the non-rev board at the airport- it helps us know we're not getting screwed vs having seats filled by the gate agent in an order you can't verify.
So there, FREE THE PEOPLE (who do scheduling)!
I got a better idea. Why don't we bid on SC just like we do on EVERYTHING ELSE? That would force the company to reveal just how many SCs they use -statistically- on every... single... day.. of... the... year, and make adjustments accordingly. Extra SCs required because of weather or whatever, get premium pay.
