Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
No kidding!! The morning after I got done with OE I started speaking French and drinking wine with my pinkie finger sticking out. Not to worry, I walked into a biker bar and picked a fight with the biggest dute there just so I could getmy a$$ kicked. I'm mostly back to normal

As a junior line holder I think it is bs that I can only hold 5 day trips. I live in base and would really like to do turns however due to this bs seniority system, I will never be able to hold turns. That is crap and even though I am junior, I should at at least be able to get some day turns, right?

Hey, I feel for you, but that's not my fight. And honestly, in your case it sounds more like a product of the equipment you desire to fly vs the equipment you could fly but with a better schedule. If it's sarcasm then OK, but sarcasm doesn't offer a reasoned and thought out counter to what I brought up. But maybe that's all there is for a rebuttal. That and seniority first and foremost above all else, no matter how it harms a fellow pilot.
The three-part bottom line is this:
1. This new system was created because that is what the pilots told their LEC reps, and thus the negotiators--over and over--that this is what they wanted. Do you fault the union for working out a new system with the company that reflects the "will of the pilot?"
2. This system honors more of a senior pilot's desires, more of the time--not all of his preferences all the time.
3. This system has been in place all of two weeks. As with any new process, there will be some growing pains, some unanticipated results, some tweaking of things for future iterations...so give it a month or two already before you shoot first and ask questions later.
And last, let's say for the sake of discussion you read the following: "due to pilot feedback, we are ceasing the RAW 'bucket' system and going back to all the reserve rules that were in place prior to the February bid period.
How do you think that would go over?
I'm reminded of the time a few years ago when I flew with the senior VP of Flight Ops. He was telling me that the complaining from the NYC-based pilots about the number of trips originating in EWR got so loud that crew resources was directed to greatly reduce the number of EWR-based trips (for non-DAL types, "NYC" based pilots can have trips built that start in EWR, LGA, or JFK: they are responsible for covering trips for all three airports). So what happened then? All the pilots who lived in Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania started bombarding the company with complaints!
No matter what the company or union does, there will always be naysayers.

Um, No. Look at MSP. The top 20 Captains and top 20 FOs get the turns to LAX and RSW from MSP on the ER. On the MD90, the top 10 of each get SAN turns. They love MSP, they are family oriented, and the FOs could have upgraded years ago. You just have to move to another base to get the same deal. Some people fly for the QOL and insurance the job brings, and maybe their spouse is the bread winner.

Not only have the new reserve rules only been in place 2 weeks, NOT ALL the new rules are in place yet.
