Default SWA RAISE ONLY 2% a year

Besides the Codeshare debate, is it true this is the Pay raise? This is what my SWA Captain just told me. BWI Based. If true, very lame.

I'd like to see what words you use to describe the 40-70% paycut everyone else bent over and took.

I can't put my description here because my post would be removed.

Continental pilots said hell no to a 3% raise for giving up there scope by management, I hope SWA pilots do the same.

Devils Advocate:

The average inflation rate since 1914 has been 3.43% per year. However, when you take into consideration that 40% of all the capital in the world was destroyed last year... who knows what 2009 holds.

Given the current economic stance any airline giving a pay raise is better than furloughs or concessionary pay cuts.

I never took a 40-70% cut. My last two contracts were a 23% and 19% on date of signing, plus 4% a year. And my hourly is still way low compared to year 2000 era numbers. It's 243 if you must know with my Intl. override. Which is all I fly. You sound like a typical SWA guy who gets sent away and comes back two months later brain washed.

You don't take a few pennies to give up jobs and make your job and career insecure. Plus SWA is making more then 2% a year in profit, reach down and grab more while keeping your job and industry secure.

Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I never said I agreed with this "pennies" pay raise. With all the doom in 2008 and gloom for 2009, no fleet growth advertised for SWA, I am frankly surprised that any airline is offering pay raises...

Seems like the current economy is a managements dream excuse to cancel any and all raises for airline pilots.

This is a concessionary TA...paltry pay raises, many givebacks to scheduling, and no codeshare protection

Dude, you guys are getting a raise right now? How's that compare to everyone else in the industry (what's left of it, anyway)? Thanks.

Default There's more issues than the pay.

There are many more issues with this contract (TA) than the pay. The raise is 2% for three years back dated to Sept. 2007. 12 year Captain pay as of 9/1/2009 will be $209/hour ($184/trip) if it passes. 12 year F/O pay will be 70% of that ($146/hour/$128.80/trip). I believe that is fair narrow body compensation in the worst economic times since the 1920's. Like I said, there's many more pressing issues than pay.
