Good correlation between poor quality and outsourcing Carl. NOT!!!!!!!

Good luck finding a non outsourcing automaker to replace the XK-8

Sorry, I don't know any independent custom builders anywhere in the world since Aston Martin began outsourcing years ago.

Guess everyone sees a need to outsource. Except you!

I've been very happy with several BMW's over the years. They do a lot of outsourcing! I think it's fair to say BMW is a respected brand no?

I won't be posting anymore to you because you don't even listen. Your responses bear no relevance to the topic I discuss.

I'm glad you're happy with your BMW. But Consumer Reports and JD Power always rank BMW low with regards to reliability. The old joke about never carry a passenger in a BMW because you should always reserve that seat for the mechanic. I don't know how heavily they outsource, but since you say they do...it's another example of heavy outsourcing equaling poor quality.

The floor is all yours...have a great time.

Wrong. Their Buell line has the engines built in Austria or something by Rotax. Most of the other components are built in China..for the Buell's that is.

I don't know much about Harley's. I did know a guy who was a buyer for them. He did a lot of purchasing in Japan.

My understanding is the Forks come from Japan, another component that is probably foreign is the starter. I am sure there are other bits and pieces. But the major components...

Engines Detroit
Frame and sheet metal all made in house. Take a tour of one of the factories some time, it is interesting.

York PA
Kansas City
and Detroit

And, despite their outsourcing, they haven't really passed any savings onto consumers because demand has been high. Good for them. That's globalization at work.

Wasn't demand really high for many years?
I heard friends say there was a waiting list for certain models.
