There's the problem. You are stuck on seeming to think that RAH is 'saving' F9. I think you'll have a hard
time proving so. Just because BB may purchase part of F9 while they are in BK does not mean RAH is saving F9. It's simply a business move.

Once again, I really think your setting yourself up for disappointment.

And this is why any seniority integration would be a friggin' disaster. If you guys wanna play "Whose got the bigger airplane" that's great. But when my job comes on the line because F9 can't get along with RAH and vice versa, I start getting irritated. Personally...I think everyone's ego is speaking for them at this point and no one's really using their brain.

I sincerely hope that F9 gets financing from anywhere else but RAH. Show me one point in the entire history of the aviation industry where having a separate seniority list and separate contract has ever been good for EITHER pilot group.

Because the RAH pilots earned it

Mr. Duck,

I am usually a passive bystander on these boards. I know the best course of action would be not to engage; yet I must. I would love to see you define the word deserve. I have 15,000+ hours, five types, 7,000+ 121 PIC, and international experience in my 20+ years at the airlines. I have worked as a checkairman, as a union rep, and in the training department during that time. As a side note I have been furloughed three times and this is my second bankruptcy. Are you deserving due to your credentials or the fact that you work for BB and I work for SM?

Respectfully,

Flex, I am the same way as far as the qualifications without the international experience, I am a second time furloughee. And in my 17 years in the industry at a 135/121 Commuter (as we used to call them, back in the day), then on to a major.

I to rarely post on this thing. I don't have a dog in this hunt/fight. However, this entire thing just disgusts me. What may happen to my friends and the other good folks @ both Frontier and Midwest. All the blood, sweat and tears they put in to get to where they are/were. And now to almost helplessly watch it be decimated by greed and to have others salivate over it makes me sad. No one is to know what may have happened to either company without the Republic thing. Only time would have told. But this sets a terrible precedent for the industry and the profession. Happy Hump Day all. Take care and KEEP SMILING!!

WHO is saving WHO...

Regional airlines, under fixed-fee contracts with major airlines, typically pass fuel costs to the big carriers who now are "eating a lot of red ink," said Michael Boyd, principal of Evergreen, Colo., aviation consultancy The Boyd Group.
So the major carriers are reducing use of the 50-and-fewer-seat regional jets. They're terminating contracts with regional carriers almost as fast as they can find an escape clause.
When oil hit $50 a barrel, the [regional jets] were under water. When it got over $50, these became financial submarines," Boyd said.
The trend appears to be partly behind Republic's July 11 announcement that it is cutting 500 jobs, or 10 percent of its work force.

On July 3 - eight days before Republic announced job cuts - United Airlines informed Republic it was exercising its right to terminate a contract with Republic's Chautauqua Airlines, which flies seven, 45-seat Embraer jets for United

The fact that we are even having this discussion makes me sick. When a commuter pilot in his twenties and a mainline pilot with loads of experience will have to argue over seniority the unthinkable has happened. Two career airlines are about to be swallowed up by a bottom feeder! Who's next? Most pilots at f9 and yx have already been there done that, and now are apparently going back to do it again. Guys and girls, my heart goes out to ya. Hopefully a white knight comes in before you fine folks have to take a MAJOR step backwards. Lord knows you ALREADY have paid your dues and deserve better than to join ranks with the new cancer of the industry.

Good post Flex. So your the reason I had to add "81" to my handle!

On the other end of the spectrum, I am perhaps the most in-experienced pilot on F9's list. I am 28 years old, have 4000+ hours, 3 types, 1000+ turbine PIC and am currently furloughed and flying 135 operations. I have been in the airlines since March of 05. I don't think I should be junior to someone who got hired at Republic last year with 500TT and now has 500 Turbine SIC.
