Nice, that's actually a really good idea. You sure you're not Mgmnt?

Very nice, I like your way of thinking.

Interesting idea . . .

Does anyone REALLY know why Mesa was singled out by Delta?
  • too costly (not likely)
  • small fleet for Delta (only 30 something aircraft, @ one point, @ least)
  • too many delays (delays due to Mesa's operation, delays due to Delta assigning them mainly NE Corridor routes, or delays b/c Delta asked them to cancel flights to get their transatlantic flights out quicker)
  • Personal differences with Ornstein

We all know Delta has too many 50 seaters in the Delta Connection fleet. Why target Mesa (Pinnacle was targeted, but came to an agreement. Skywest is suing Delta too).

Does anyone REALLY know?

Yes, Mesa stinks!

I have to admit that out of all of the DCI operators Mesa has always had issues. Even in ATL they would cancel flights after the crews were on board and they started boarding.

SKW and EV are untouchable due to their contracts being affirmed by the Bankruptcy Court.

Agreed, though they've managed to get me on flights when the gate agents were being a PITA.

WRT Pinnacle, I think they are fairly untouchable also because of their contract being affirmed by the Bankruptcy Court while still part of the NWA world.
The 900's were a separate deal with DCI so who knows how long that will hold up.

Not too many jets left to hand out in a 2 for 1 deal with a DCI anymore. It is going to get a lot more interesting.

Hmm, Republic and Mesa are the only two others that are NOT wholly owned and maybe that is why the screws are being turned so tightly on them.

Delta's JFK ops were botched from the get-go. Telling YV to fly JFK-PVD @ a 4PM departure and block it at ONLY 40 minutes was just one flight. (The plane would still be in departure queue 100 minutes after push).

All around the F8 Dash 8 ops, while on paper looked like a great idea, was a failure regardless of WHO operated it. Even old TWE had on time/completion issues out of JFK back in the day. Add in YV to the mix, and even the highest trained YV folks still wouldn't have been able to pull it off.

Btw, those numbers for DCI carriers @ hub airports isn't completely accurate. Mesa has NEVER flown into SLC as a DCI carrier.

Thanks travelnate,

You are correct. These numbers are the total airline statistics out of certain cities. For example: Mesa flies into SLC as United Express and USAirways Express.

If you can provide the DCI information for the same time period for JFK please share as it is even more enlightening.

I believe that the information still has alot of value and is very interesting. Those familiar with the unique operational characteristics of each airport and the difficulties of being handled on the ground by either your own personnel or your direct competitor will fully understand the numbers.
