I am old enough to remember when most major carriers had a B scale.... mostly the B scale was negotiated away and gave mgt the capability to fly larger equipment at the then feeder carriers.

Did a judge give that flying away or did the pilots vote to allow someone else to fly it?

When did delta give up the 70 seaters? Was it during the good times or their bankruptcy?

I think the current generation is the future.

Good discussion. Just to let you know I do not pretend to know anything. I just know a little inside my AMR bubble. But what I do know is that mainline pilots did relax scope to keep pay, pensions, and work rules. Then Chapter 11 happens and they loose pay, pensions, and work rules.

Simple fact mainline pilots created RJ flying.

I suspect that we will see the cycle all over again. A Piedmont type when regionals become majors. IE RAH.

Also remember that the days of the former "regionals" were regulated by the government. This made it lucrative for everyone. It wasn't till after deregulation that the mainline airlines needed to find the cheapest operational cost structure possible to compete with low-cost carriers that came in and dominated. They allowed other cheaper companies to operate thier flghts for them and the pilots of these mainline carriers didn't see this as a threat. But the problem was they underestimated the crooked and criminal minds that run most airlines. Th CEOs and boards that have no company pride and are only looking at the dollars. The pilots have pride and work hard. They are the real company. And in the case of united they used to run the place after the strike of 85. But there's nothing like a good bankruptcy to ruin a good thing.

You're not so dumb and you're aware of plenty outside our "AMR bubble".

History not only WILL repeat itself, it has already started and is well underway.
