Default DELTA's new travel net website...

I am trying to get a price quote on a buddy pass. Anyone know how to do it on the new website?

Thanks

There is a explanation on the Delta net. Basically for the moment you have to authorize a pass and go through the booking process to get a quote. Then deauthorize the pass. The rates jumped a bunch on 23 June. A update is planned to just get a quote at a later time.

You have to go through the entire authorization process, then cancel it at the end. They are really expensive. IAD-ORD is 199

You have to authorize it, just like you were going to buy it. At the very end it will give you the option of canceling.
A pain, but at least this way you can see the grand total. The old way you only saw the mileage charge, which could be less than half the bottom line.
If it's domestic you may be able to find a fare near the buddy pass deal. Not a great deal all the time.

Thanks. I was hoping there was an easier way, but I guess not. Thanks for all your help.

It's nice to be able to e-travel on NWA, but the new site kind of sucks... as do the new buddy pass fares.

They tried to make the new site too fancy. For instance, when you open the non-rev list, it pops open a new window which steals the focus of your entire browser!! In other words, if you have other tabs open, good luck trying to get to them. You can't click on anything on the main browser window when that non-rev list window is open.

That is really, really bad and any amateur web programmer should know not to do that.

Also they put way to much javascript in there. Good luck getting it to look nice on a mobile phone. The old one worked perfectly fine on mine.

The new buddy pass fares are way too high. Advance tickets are cheaper in most cases.

Also is it my understanding Delta can't book buddy passes on Northwest flights, but Northwest guys can book buddy passes on delta?

The only thing about the new site I like is that you can instantly see where you stand in relation to other non-revs. Prior to this you had to wait until the actual standby list was active to see if the 1979 hire was really an active employee, retiree, or buddy pass.

That's it though. The non-rev list takes WAY to long to load and if you click off it before it loads you must completely get out of what you were doing and start over. The old site was much, much better IMO. And faster!

It appears that you cannot list for a flight that is sold out. This is not good for commuters. How many times do we see an oversold flight leave the gate with empty seats. Are we to expect the agents to list us at the gate while they are trying to close out a flight. I doubt it. Was this the way it was for the DAL-S guys before?

I haven't encountered that problem. I got bumped off multiple flights this weekend in SEA that were oversold but we still could list on every flight. There are some weird gremlins in the new system.
