Here's a merry go-round: I was hired at Frontier in late 2007. Shortly thereafter, they cancelled my class for obvious and now well known financial reasons. I was fortunate to resurrect some interviews and move to another carrier. Summer 2008, I joined the SWA pool for hire. Now, its highly likely that I will not work for either airline. Those are the breaks. Its just a business, poolies. In 1986, I wanted to be a Tomcat or A-10 pilot. I never flew those machines. I flew rubber dog poop from outta Hong Kong. My life has been better for it.

I've gotta say I'm not sure which company you are speaking about when you are saying you have this decision to make. Your decision will likely be made for you.

It may come as a surprise to some WN pilots to know that the majority of the F9 pilots are VERY happy here, and don't see a merger as the panacea that some WN pilots apparently think they should. F9 pilots have helped build something special in a company with an unparalleled loyalty in Denver. This is demonstrated by the fact that WN feels it needs to build its DEN market by following the maxim that "if you can't lick 'em, join 'em". F9 pilots shouldn't be "crapped on" for helping build something that Southwest is willing to pay tens of millions of dollars for.
No surprise Push... I promise. Believe it or not SWA pilots feel the same wrt what they have built. I'm sorry for the fact that your company could not make your product profitable. If you are not satisfied w/ a job offer or don't see a pilot position at SWA as an opportunity then I believe you to be suffering from "near sighted" vision.
I do wish the pilot group the best. I want to see all of you given an opportunity at SWA. Good Luck!

Some perspective from a junior SWA Captain;
1. Fo's are taking the shaft right now at SWA, junior Captains are not far behind. They just saw their upgrades go from 6 1/2 years to 14 years with the slowdown in the economy, and the fallout from age 60 legislation.
2. FO's are largely the ones to suffer a list integration.
3. Junior CA's are stuck on weekends for the forseeable future, displaced, and seeing the heaviest of pay reductions (with the very junior FO's) due to schedule dilution with the contraction at SWA.
4. The rumor is we are 250-300 fat on pilots RIGHT NOW.
My point; How fuzzy the picture is here is about how fuzzy the pilot group is going to be at seeing a seniority integration as well. As always, this is not personal to the F9 pilots, but it always gets taken that way. Its the nature of the profession we have undertaken. We eat the young, trample the weak, and hurdle the dead. We are pilots, not boyscouts.
My college roommate is furloughed F9, and I would love to see him come here. Another buddy is in the pool for SWA, and I would love to see him come here. Every F9 pilot I have given a jumpseat ride is just as good a guy as I have met, and would be more than welcome here. However they end up, here or not, I am sure the professionalism and "Golden Rule" will apply to how they are recieved, or I would dare to say that I am sorrily underestimating my fellow pilots at SWA.
As long as I see this left to labor to decide, I am less than encouraged that SWA pilots would settle for anything but a staple with pay protection (just one mans opinion). Anything other than that, and I see it dying before the deal is inked.
All my bills get bigger, and my check has gotten smaller while I no longer drive to work, but commute 7 hours to my new base. I will not be party to putting myself back in the right seat, or further from my home to satisfy some gate hopes in Denver, or to do the "Right Thing" in seniority integration.
Regardless of what happens, I am one man, with one vote, and will embrace the results in the spirit of "nonimus controllimus" otherwise known as I have no freakin say in any direction. Best to all, and lets hope for a good deal, or a handshake and a nod good luck.

Would you really want to "take a chance" with Republic? That seems like Russian Roulette to me. I have NO stake in this, I am flying charters for rich guys, but I would hate to see anyone end up with Republic and spend the next part of there life watching their pay go down, down, down.........
