Default US Airways 767 in Athens, Greece today

Just got back from a flight and noticed that the flight back to Philly never got off the ground, plane is doing an overnight ... anyone know what happened? Usually see them depart around 11-12ish in the morning.

Maybe they ran out of $$$ for fuel and their CC was declined. Good thing we had a couple of open seats to help them out...

Honestly I have no idea but believe it or not, a 767 does break down too. bet they where off the ground a few hours after spare parts were dropped off...

Last week my 757 sat in MAN for 24 hours after scheduled departure, while parts was brought in. I'm sure they have it under control.

Or had TOO much Ouzo. Happened to me once on Crete. Just once, though.

Damn! A 767-200ER can make ATH-PHL??? Must be weight-restricted. And, it only holds like 190, F+Y.

The 767 200ER has the longest range of any of the 767 series. Delta flies a 300 with shorter range from Athens to Atlanta so the 200 should have no trouble at all with Athens to Philly.

The US, ex-PI 767-200s are not full GW 200ERs like CO or El Al have (395.0), but 351.0 max-tow airplanes. Having flown them at 2 major airlines, I can assure you they only have a 9-9.5 hour range unrestricted. ATH-PHL must be 10 hours or more WB. Very difficult to do nonstop in a -200ER. And, the -300ER has a 11.5-12 hr range. We flew it nonstop from west coast-Europe and JFK-middle east/north Africa nonstop, both ways.
