This reminds of something I have been wondering about: Why aren't we painting any A330-200's? Just a coincident?

The -88 has a square tail section vs. rounded one on the -9.

Good question. A quick search of airliners.net shows no A330-200s in the new paint, but lots of -300s, so it's not an oversight of the list.

Could it be that the -200s are newer, so they are leaving them until the end? I know the A330s at NWA aren't very old to start with..

N851NW (A330-200) is supposed to be in VCV right now getting new paint according to the Widgethead site:

The company has stated that all NWA jets will be painted. Well, that is except all of those 757's sitting at Pinal Airpark outside of TUS.

Pinal Airpark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are four DAL 757's and a DAL 767 there as well.....

Also the JT8D cowl on the -9 is narrower than the JT8D on the -88.

I never could tell a DC-9-30 from a -40.

At one of the roadshows they stated all NWA aircraft would be painted except the DC9-30/40's. Those are scheduled to be out of the fleet by the end of 10 at the moment.

From straight behind, easiest way to tell them apart is three trim tabs per elevator on the MD80+ vs two tabs per elevator on the DC9, due to the addition of the anti-float tab.
