That's a 4800 ft runway....guess there will be no floating it down the strip searching for that nice soft touchdown.....

I remember when PSA - USX flew in, they only allowed the captain to land the airplane, and I heard that ASA required dual captains when they first opened it.

What's amazing is when MidAtlantic came in with the E170s, most of the crews had flown the Fokker 28s in there, so they were already well versed, and USX never had a weight restriction to FLL.

Only issue with EYW is when its wet or low clouds - no ILS either. Screw something up and you are going swimming (on both sides, although one is a swamp, the other is the channel).

They went from 2 CR7's to 3 CR7's. On a typical Friday & Sunday in the past years, ASA had 4 flights a day.

Interesting they announce this just after AirTran announces their new service utilizing their 737's as well.

I see DAL is continuing to fight them!

It's got RNAV approaches now, RNAV/VNAV goes down to 425/1 1/2

I don't know if our 737s can do LPV approaches, but if they could it would be a 250/1 approach.

Not yet, but I hear the IAN approaches are an interim step. The jets don't have WAAS equipment as far as I know.

Key West weather is either so ugly that the flight would be cancelled (ie hurricane & flooding) or is transitory enough that two turns in holding is usually enough. If you don't like the report, check back in ten minutes.
