I talked to a nice young man, aspiring to be an airline pilot, on my flight from SFO to LAX yesterday. I was the check airman sitting in the right seat with a brand new Captain sitting in the left seat.
Anyway, if you're on here my friend, give me a shout. I was impressed with your enthusiasm towards flying and would be glad to help you any way I can.

Nice response...at least there's still one pilot out there who would like to help someone out and mentor them. Give the guy a break. I think it was very generous for him to offer his help

All joking aside, I think it's wonderful that you are willing to help. I am an aspiring pilot as well. It can be depressing and frustrating reading these forums and hearing what the lifestyle is really like, but I honestly can't imagine myself doing anything else; I'm not trying to enter this industry for the (lack of) money, prestige, etc., but simply because I love to fly! An office at FL30 with a view beats driving any 9-5 cubicle in my book.

It get pretty boring at FL300... You will have a lot of time to think about things like why your wife left you and how the credit collectors are waiting for you on the ground... It's a job and even if it sounds fun now, it won't be when you have done it long enough. Even being a porn star gets old when some one tells when to do it and how to do it.
