If the films convey some amount of truth, then so be it. All good viewers should do their research before believing what they are presented. Bowling for Columbine was littered with errors. Since then, the films have had a lot more fact checking.

Indeed. I think people have challenged him in the past on this before and his response was "Oh, I'm trying to take the system down from the inside".
I've heard the same line from popular anti-establishment musical artists who sign onto a major record label, going against their independent roots.
I guess if you are going to be a revolutionary, you might as well get a little scratch on the side, right? Or, you could just donate it. Oh right, no one does that

Politics has nothing to do with it. Getting the "facts" out by being a lying hypocrite won't help any of us.
Even the most cursory fact check of any of his films will leave you gagging at the lies, half truths and fabrications. Not exactly the sort of support we need.
It does sell well with an uninformed public and that turns the trick. It is easy to fool most of the people much of the time.
