Default Rough Commute

I recently went to BOS ATL on DAL for the DAL golf tournament in Orchard Hills in Newnan. I had a paid tix back thankfully but, I jumpseated down. It was horrible trying to get there. Only one jmpseat in 757, completly full and oversold. Every flight. I finally made it on after 5hrs at the airport but, boy I would not want that commute. Good luck to those who do it. Thanks for the ride anyway, DAL...

Loads have really been garbage lately. It took me 16 hours to get back from the Caribbean to the northeast the other day. It was: STX-STT on Cape Air, STT-MIA-MCO on American, then MCO-BTV on JetBlue. Only way I could make it happen with the amount of people traveling that day.

Thats interesting..I just sent my father BOS-ATL last Friday on Delta with a zed fare. One flight had 5 open seats, the next had 30 and the one after that had over 20. He made it down there without issue.

Columbus Day Weekend. Monday is a legal holiday. Heavy loads for this weekend in October every year.

I pray for everyone flying this holiday season, I flew a few weeks ago to DFW and the airport was packed with people and both flights there and back were completely full.

Like most commuters I look forward to the Fall slowdown in load factors. However, this fall has been the worst I've ever seen. Lots of jumpseats since September for me. Just checked my commute for TUESDAY - FULL!

Despite the heavy load factors, most of these seats are way too small of a yeild to make any money. More capacity cuts are coming. I hope you all have a commuter clause!

So in an industry struggling to make money we should all hope the load factors are down so you can get to work in a comfortable seat? Don't know about ayone else but I actually hope the flights stay heavy so as a company a better chance to make money.

Ugly fact is that is we raise prices by 20% we would see about a 28-30% drop in ridership. What needs to happen is another 10-15% capacity cut. What appears to be happening is capacity increases. Look at last months numbers and many airlines have added seats back in. I guess we will never learn.

I could also add that we could just kep capacity where it is at for two years and achieve the same results as an immediate cut.
