The appearance was that he had just gotten off of duty and going home (hopefully as a ticketed passenger and not as a jumpseater)

I'm not passing judgment as I am not sure one way or the other. This scene just made me wonder if this was proper.
Like Hercules said how do you know he was a pilot? Could have been a FA. Obama seems to think its okay to have a beer while at work at the white house with a cop. Whats wrong with an OUT of uniform pilot having a beer. I'm sure nobody at the bar even noticed.....

Last I knew, the White House was where he lives. So, one minute you're chastising someone for "thinking" this guy was a pilot, and the next you're chastising someone for drinking a beer at THEIR OWN HOUSE. Wow...... For those who seem to think "no one ever notices", you're alot more naive than you think.

If helps the discussion - pretend it is a hypothetical situation.

You got that right! We used to have a guy (a senior pilot), who washed his shirts in the pilot's crewroom bathroom every morning. This guy was DISGUSTING. He had his bar of soap, and every morning he was in the bathroom with a sink full of shirts and soap. Some pilots have NO life, and unfortunately this job makes it easy for them to continue that lifestyle.

Why don't you read my post again? It says that this scene made me wonder if this was proper. It also said that I didn't pass a judgment one way or the other. You call it stirring the pot, I call it beginning a topic of discussion. I kind of think that such a thing is ok to do on a "discussion board".

I couldn't have determined that with 100% certainty. However, if both of us were there and had bet on it........say, a C- note, (most FA's don't carry Luggage Works bags WITH a chart case adorned with Boeing stickers et al.) then I'm certain enough that you would have been $100 poorer and I would have had to buy you a beer with the money you just lost.

Perhaps you should read a little more carefully next time before asking such questions. I don't know if it's wrong or not. That's why I posted the topic for discussion.
