If you need a drink, walk into the bathroom take off the pilot shirt and just put on something else. That to me is less hassle than taking off all of my "flair" and less likely i'll lose it.

Hi!

At my US airline, you could not drink in uniform. It was standard procedure to take off your epaulets, and then drink. Most guys took of their epaulets whenever there was any chance of being seen in public, because they were ashamed to be pilots, I guess.

Also, you may be able to wait to get home to drink, but some guys won't be getting home anytime soon.

PS-I don't drink in uniform. I don't take my epaulets off, unless I am changing shirts because one is dirty. And, I STOP ON THE WAY HOME (or wherever I am living) sometimes and do stuff like shop, or eat in a restaurant, IN UNIFORM!!! The world will come to an end, soon.

Or possibly approaching for a face to face clarification of what's going on vs. coming on an internet message board.

We all need to stop using this as an excuse for every time a pilot shows poor judgement. If you cant be bothered to be a professional at your current level of pay (while your working to better it), get the heck out of this profession. I'm sick of this lame excuse, and its being used way to often..

Heard that a number of times from people at the regional I worked at. Guess what? They are still there.... or at some other bottom feeder carrier....getting paid like the non-professionals that they are.

Sounds like some of you haven't been to Starbucks in KHYA when it was around. You'd keel over seeing all the "bus drivers" that use to go there when the shift was over.
Wait, the band is playing "Brown Eyed Girl" !!! It must be 10:30 PM.
I've done it, but not carrying my flight case around. Flew to PHNL in uniform to breeze through security. Then, when I got there, my friend who was picking me up, and I sat at the bar waiting (sans bars and wings) for my wife to come in on a different flight.
