Then the NTSB is wrong, or I am really misreading something. This is the quote directly from the initial report.
"A check airman was on the flight deck along with the captain
and first officer. During cruise flight, the check airman became ill and was relocated to the cabin for the remainder of the flight. A medical emergency was declared and the
company was notified by the crew. A determination was made to land at the scheduled destination of ATL."
Perhaps they all had the fish, and as such, their mental state was affected. I'm just saying ....
I don't know, I'm not familiar with every airlines lost comm procedures. Does your airline have different procedures for head counting flight attendants, or do you just like leaving them behind?
It's in the AIM.
On a side note to ACL with the thought of different test to screen applicants. It made me think of Armageddon with the ink blots.

In my opinion, if the medical emergency wasn't serious enough to warrant a diversion, then it wasn't serious enough to land on a taxiway.
Of course what do I know. I am just a regional FO.
"Serious enough medical emergency?" YGBSM. I don't care if the guy has an Alien popping out of his abdomen and Sigourney Weaver is my co-pilot. I ain't landing on a taxiway.

Which I'm sure we all carry with us and have the pages tabbed. Be real guys, even with it in FOMs most guys will be looking it up.
Point being, I personally did not speculate with Colgan 3407 just as I won't speculate on the DAL 767 or the NWA 320. Guys flaming away at each other is ridiculous, out of control, and tiring.
It seems this board used to have a constructive purpose, and now it's quickly turning into FI #2. It's sad.

And you're entitled to that decision when you're in command of an aircraft. I just don't understand why everyone wants to come on here and crucify each other.
This board has become so depressing. I feel like I'm on myspace.
I do not understand why anyone has issues with the new ATP/1500 requirment for 121 pilots. Last time I checked an ATP means AIRLINE Transport Pilot.......... For those that got hired with out it, good for you. For those that want to get hired, gotta fly a wee bit more.
I also don't understand the bitterness and obvious resentment against the Colgan accident and the new bill. One of the causes of the accident were the Capts poor airmanship/lack of aerodynamic knowledge. The fix.... increase miniums and training.
Look at "major" accidents. Where did CRM, Cargo fire detection/extinguishing requirements, contaminated runway analysis, required windshear and cfit sim training come from. We (major) screwed the pooch and the FAA mandated new training. A "regional" screws the pooch and ya'll are up in arms about increased training and experience.
If something can make this industry safer (even incrementally) and does not affect ANYONE who is currently a 121 pilot... WHO CARES.....
