Default This Is What It Has Come Down Too.

There is very much off topic, but relevant nonetheless.

How many of you have visited other non-aviation message boards? The ones I have seen are roughly 90% seriousness, 5% sarcasm, and 5% immaturity. Unfortunately, most aviation message boards (and APC is getting closer, no offense intended) are about 95% immature and 5% serious. It has literally gotten to the point where the only reason to visit these boards is for nothing more than a laugh.

Think about it. How many CPA message boards do you see containing comments such as "my adding machine is bigger than your adding machine", or "back in the day we had Lotus 1-2-3. These young punks nowadays have Excel." Or how many doctor websites do you see with comments such as "well, I'm a better doctor with less experience because I had advanced anatomical systems taught to me at Harvard".

Look at the majority of these threads and posts. I don't know who outside of aviation visits these message boards, but it is almost embarrassing to wonder what most would think.

I have noticed a drastic change in this board over the past year. Not that I am pointing fingers but ever since advertisements arrived the quality of discussion has gone down. You still can find decent discussions in the dark corners but I stay away from the Regional and Majors forums like they are a breeding ground for H1N1.

Lab Rat...Excellent point...Now lets look a little deeper into this issue...

You talk about CPAs and Doctors....How many CPAs and Doctors start all over when they change employers? How many CPAs and Doctors divide their professions into "regional" and "mainline"? Do they use "career expectations" as a method of measuring "worth"?

These issues create a lot of "friction" among "brothers". If you are going to claim that regionals are less safe, then you better not land a 767 on a taxiway......

This is one screwed up "profession".....No doubt about it....

just another perspective though.. we like to compare our trade to other professionals.. the difference is CPAs and Doctors and Lawyers can choose between joining a huge firm, or going into private practice.

the public is much more likely to go with Joe Blow, Esq. to represent them in court when they are short on cash than JoeBlowJet airline to get them from Pigsknuckle, Arkansas to Paris.

While our job is important and keeps lives safe, until one of us screws up or lands a plane in the hudson, you can't quantify value of a pilot to the price you pay for a ticket.

Times for pilots are bad. Pay, QOL, furloughs, etc. When you have a lot of people upset, out of work, and board...

When times are better there will be less people complaining and I am sure that the tone of conversations will change. However, there will still be those unprofessional and immature individuals in it just to get a raise out of others.

I am not saying that this actually happens, BUT...

This website was private. It was then sold by the creators to a large company that makes money off websites like this by getting paid to have advertisements posted all over it.

Now again this is just a assumption (So I know I what I am making myself and umption look like) But I would bet that the former owners/creators either don't ban people as much as they used to or they CAN"T ban people as much as they used too since the value of an advertisement space is based on the amount traffic on the website.

"This Is What It Has Come Down Too." Lab Rat

To is a preposition which begins a prepositional phrase or an infinitive.
"The pilot never enjoyed going to school."

Too is an adverb meaning "excessively" or "also."
"The pilot failed his English courses too."

Two is a number.
"Only two pilots could write a complete sentence."
