I don't let my dog poop in your yard, don't let your kid's screams ruin my day.
If one cannot control his two year old, then don't take the brat out in public.

I agree. Hot damn! Finally a crew with some stones

First off - my kids were always pretty well behaved but thanks for looking out for my lawn.

Second, I would tend to support the crew, I hate crying babies as much as anybody.

Thirdly, just how do you control a 2 year old who for whatever reason pitches a fit on a plane? Which was my point, which you obviously missed. The issue should be dealt with by the parent and we have no shortage of parents not being nominated for parent of the year.

Lastly, just in case you have the ability to consistently reason logically with an average two year old, get out of aviation and start making millions with that ability.

OBTW - I wan't there which is why I said it was situation dependent. Since you seem to have this all figured out please enlighten me: What exactly did the child do that was over the line?

What did the parent do to try to correct the siutation? Or did the parent take no action whatsoever?

What did the cabin crew do?

So how exactly does one "control" a kid? Thankfully mine were well behaved - have four and all made it past the terrible twos. But I often wonder how does one control a kid? What do you do if a kid is normally well behaved and suddenly they get into a new environment and they misbehave?

And people really need to get some thicker skin when it comes to crying babies. It is a baby! Baby's can't articulate what is bothering them. Stop being so annoyed when a baby crys or lock yourself in your house.

What exactly would the safety risk be with a screaming 2 year old child?

Lots of back-slapping here for the crew, but I don't really understand the reaction.

I had to do this once. The kid (about 3) simply would not sit in her seat. She would throw a screaming tantrum on the floor if you tried to make her do it. She wouldn't cooperate with mom, the FA, or me. Mom was extremely apologetic and understanding and I felt really bad but we had to go back to the gate.

Sometimes kids that age just won't go with the flow...it's often not about parenting skills, they are just old enough to have their own ideas but too young to understand why they can't do their own thing.

But as long as the kid is not a safety problem, I'm not sure it's a good thing to kick them off for being loud. Where do you draw the line? Set a Db standard and carry a portable SPL meter? If you fly on SWA you should expect trailer trash, screaming babys, etc...they have about the most diverse passenger group in the industry.

The safety risk would me sitting next to them after finishing my 6 day rotation/13 hour day, and going postal.

THAT would be a safety risk.

Its called dicipline, and warming a fanny when necessary, and before all the goody two shoes go insane, the lack of being able to dicipline our children properly is why the rate of violent crime is so high in the country. Too many kids have been raised with the message there are no consequences. There is a differance between beating and spanking your child.

"Spare the rod, spoil the child" America is living proof.

I'll probably be hated for this post...
