I hate seeing/hearing mishaving kids in public, but what's worse is the parent's reaction. Once a toddler kept on kicking the back of my seat, and I heard the mother growl in a very low, firm voice that there is a person sitting in front and that she better stop kicking the seat. The kid only semi-stopped but I appreciated the mother's effort more than anything. Another time I was waiting in line, and suddenly felt a pinch on my butt. I turned around and this little boy about 4 years old had just come up to a total stranger (ME) and pinched my butt! The mother was standing right next to him and I know she saw the whole thing happen but didn't even acknowledge it, let alone apologize for her kid's behavior. THAT kind of parenting is despicable.

Perhaps you should have returned the favor by pinching the mother in the derriere.

That's an absolute shame. Very poor parenting. Another scenario that usually comes up is in the supermarket where the child's misbehavior affects you and as the parent apologizes and disciplines the child, you just smile and say "it's ok". I don't do that. It undermines the parent's authority, and makes the child think the parent is just being mean. Hence the next day when little Johnny throws a tantrum on a plane, he expects everybody to smile and say it's ok.
Seeing as how SWA carries more passengers domestically than any other airline, should you ride in a SWA cabin you should also expect to see business men and women in suits. US Servicemen and women in uniform. Airline flight crew members from many different carriers commuting to/from work.
I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on the forum, but it appears your myopia needs treated.
That come off wrong, I think SWA is great, but they carry a much more diverse passenger group (often including me) than some carriers. If you fly on them and expect a country-club atmosphere you are not being realistic.
I always roll my eyes at the "upscale" business types on SWA who are looking down their noses at the other paxs...if you're so upper-crust, why can't you afford business class on DAL?
Ask your parents what you were like as a 2 year old and I,m willing to bet that some if not all of you acted just like this 2 year old did .
The intolerance towards children and each other is amazing .

When I was two you couldn't hear a pep outta me because my face was pressed flat against the window...the entire flight. The only kicking off the flight crew had to do was kick me outta the cockpit because I tought the wings they gave me were real and authorized me to be in the cockpit for the whole flight!

I always roll my eyes at the "upscale" business types ON ANY AIRLINE who are looking down their noses at the other pax ...
Perhaps the old MGM Airlines was the last attempt at culling the steerage class, but there are plenty of "coach" passengers on every airline flying today. Simply, your assertion in an earlier post that "trailer trash" was to be expected on SWA should be equally applied to your airline as well. The number of examples of screaming children and irresponsible parents already posted on this forum represent a broad cross section of the industry players.

I ride around on a variety of airlines...the crowd on SWA is simply more diverse, even on the same routes (ie my commute). It is what it is. Not that there's anything wrong with that, kudos to SWA for tapping a broader customer base.
