The reason this is happening to United is because they are not the major customer of the Airline Pilots Association, (ALPA). Look for Paul Rice to be purged soon and a Delta rep to be appointed.
Delta pilots are the major dues payers, thus are the focus.
Wrong. Of the four national officers, Captain Rice is probably the most likely to stay in office. Delta will have a hard time getting anyone elected to the big four spots, because the rest of the BOD will be paranoid of giving them too much power. Politics has a way of balancing things.
I'm afraid scorched earth is just the beginning. UAL Alpa is in shambles. I think Glenn Fletcher Tilton would love nothing less than replacing the pilots at United, or at the very least, destroying Alpa.
For those at Delta, American, and Continental watching from the outside, take note of what Tilton is doing w Air Lingus. If he succeeds, you are next.
Tiltons Plan (in my opinion):
Make United "unite" the regional airlines to handle all domestic flying. Eliminate as many A320/A319s, 747s, 757s, 767s and 777s (737s already gone). Make the regionals compete against each other and drop the price of a ticket even farther while remaining as a Star Alliance member. United will be the first major legacy airline without actual planes or pilots.

You forgot to add the part where he lines his pockets and those of his minions with $$millions from the backs of the employees!
[sarcasm]A real class act he is! [/sarcasm]

Or he is successful in the aforementioned plan, saves UAL from CH 11 or 7, and makes money for his shareholders. Which is BTW, his only job. Remember, corporations exist to make money for their stock owners, not to provide jobs and security to it's employees. Something to keep in mind when you sign on with anybody but yourself.
