"Latest and Greatest" about jetBlue

I think it's safe to say that everyone can feel it coming through everyone of your posts.. You seem miserable, that is why you keep getting the 'leave it' (as you put it) crowd responding.
There are right and wrong ways to campaign for unionization. Personal attacks and negitivity only push people further away from your side.

We tried that but the same crowd told us it didn't have enough structure, funding, "insert excuse". Frustrating to say the least. A CBA would mean independent insurance and a guaranteed 10% monthly into the 401K. But again, you still have to deal with the "happy to be here".

Okay, so I used to come to this thread to see what was up with the hiring process. You know, rumors on how many were going to be hired, when classes were. I came here because, unlike other fora, it wasn't full of b!tching and complaining.
Thanks guys!

Dude, thanks for what appears to be a back-handed compliment. . . First off, thank you for your service to Delta Air Lines (yes, I know, it is three words). I used my critical thinking skills when I accepted the position here at jetBlue Airways. I signed my contract under no duress. I knew that it was a different culture than the mainline carriers. Am I wrong, or is there major move afoot within your pilot group to do away with your relationship with ALPA? You'll have a vote at some point, I am sure, and those that don't agree with the vote can do one of two things: Accept the majorities decision and work within that framework or resign and look for work elsewhere. That is all that I am talking about within this thread.

Some of you would do well to not be so sensitive to insult from Alice. Instead,LISTEN to what he is saying. We have some major shortfalls here at JetBlue and a it is frustrating that half the pilots dont mind. New Guy Euphoria DOES WEAR OFF. Then you start to look around and see others do the same job as you for better pay and overall compensation.

To those that have recently interviewed and those in the pool it is my hope that you will begin training in the very near future. I enjoy working for JetBlue and I am happy with my career choice. For me QOL and a pleasant work environment are very important, and I have found both. If you also feel these are important than you will hopefully find them here as well. We certainly have issues, but it is hard to find a profession and job that does not.
I look foward to flying with you

For those interested in B6, I wish you the very best. This is a great company to work for, with a great future. As far as the contention that we work for substandard pay I would direct you to Lake's previously mentioned MIT Airline Data project. We are currently ranked 5th in pay among all major airlines. The average JetBlue pilot makes just $2300 a year less than a DAL pilot. That is with small narrow body equipment, no wide body pay in our average. I would say JetBlue compensates us very fairly. In the mean time it has been argued that management enriches themselves. Currently the CEO of JetBlue has the lowest pay of all Major Airline CEO's. Hardly enriching himself on the backs of employees. The management at JetBlue has never taken a cash bonus that I know of, maybe some stock grants, but how is that any different than corporate america. Don't forget that many of the pilots of JetBlue were also given a stock option package, that many took advantage of and exercised early on. Some folks missed the opportunity to exercise those options at a profit, but that is hardly the companies fault. See this LINK: CEO 2010 pay at major and regional airlines
I have always said that our retirement and benefits can improve. I just disagree in the method to achieve it. We can improve and we will improve our benefits over time. The challenge in my opinion is to do that in a manner that keeps costs across the entire company competitive so we can continue to be a profitable and organically growing company until most of us retire.
In closing for those visiting this board thinking about JetBlue as a career, I recommend it hands down with no reservations or complaints. Best of luck to you all, and don't be discouraged by a healthy debate. Lake has done a lot of good I would imagine to try to improve things, I commend him for his efforts and wish him only the best in whatever his future holds, as I would do the same for all fellow B6 pilots, regardless of their passionate beliefs.
