Delta 'instructor' Pilots?

Delta 'instructor' Pilots?
A person I know, said they were hired as a A320 Instructor for Delta. Is this correct? This person resigned as of today. I did not know they were hiring "off the street" into the sims. I looked on Delta's site, and they say they are looking for pilot candidates. What's up?

Delta hires a lot of retired Delta Pilots to come back and instruct in the simulators, they are called DGS; Delta Ground (instructor) Services.
We just had a bunch of pilots take an early out, I could see where some would come back to instruct.

I know DGS is having a hard time hanging on to retired guys. Unless you want to live in MSP or ATL, commuting is on your dime, as well as lodging and food. You can non-rev in but DAL won't give those guys positive space.

Not a retired Delta pilot. This person was willing to start in MSP, then move to ATL.I didn't know they were looking. This person wasn't a checkairman either. "Just" a Chief Pilot.
Thanks for the info...

If they are hiring off the street, vs. retired DL Pilots, I guess no retired DL Pilots wanted it. Rare but it does happen, probably see more of that now that DL is moving the MSP training to ATL. As far as pay, the last I heard, it's a flat rate per 4hr. sim period, something like $300, but that's old data and may have changed by now...for better...or not.
