her metal, she gets priority....i don't see the issue here. Your sob story doesn't change anything. I've been bumped after sitting on the jumpseat for someone that showed up last minute on their own metal....it's part of commuting and in my opinion you are 100% in the wrong here. Could she have handled it better? sure....but she's more entitled to that j/s than you are.

Thats was all fine and dandy until she saw me standing at the gate and asked me if I listed...What comes around goes around.
So you're making a threat? She had every right to the JS on her OWN metal. Not only is jumpseating a privilege, you've got to understand that offline jumpseaters are DEAD LAST in priority behind EVERY category of non-rev. If there's a seat in back, great. Apparently there wasn't or she would have given up the cockpit jumpseat.

Why? Going to work isn't a silver bullet, especially if you're offline. Sounds to me like you didn't plan an appropriate number of backups to make your checkin time. YOUR BAD. Prior planning prevents poor performance.

And complaining about your bad planning makes you an automatic candidate for TOTD.

A threat? Way to read between the lines that aren't there. I meant that as more of a someday she will be in my shoes and need to get somewhere and she's going to get bumped herself. Also it seems you also know what I was doing earlier in the day, because I never wrote how many more flights I tried to get on or what time I got to the airport. Really just classic APC. Bravo, bravo sir. I'm done with this one.

Well you know what's funny, I never said I missed my check in either. I said the rest of the flights weren't really good for making it but I didn't say I couldn't make it. I made my last resort flight, it was absolutely the tightest commute I've ever had to try but I made it. The point of this whole post was more along the theme of trying the help another pilot out and not being a jerk about it if that person can't. But that doesn't let you get your rocks off so hey thats cool, everyone needs a hobby.

I heard that Beechedjet then punched her and stood over her shouting "expressjet rules, expressjet rules"

Why exactly??

Beats wearing it on a lanyard around the neck like a dog.

Personally, I keep mine in my shirt pocket...you want to see it? No problem! Ask for it. It's the only company procedure I blatantly disregard unless I'm on the ramp. Why must I walk around the airport public areas with a badge? Pax dont. Sterile SIDA/Employee areas I understand.

I'm not going to go back and re-read your previous posts but you did suggest the other flights wouldn't help you make your sign in time. That's what I picked up anyway, and it was her airline, it's her jumpseat. Commuting is a pain, plan accordingly. The more time you give yourself, the less stressful it is.

Which is exactly what happened. You took a different flight that got you to work on time and in doing so, you helped her go to an event that was important to her.

Being able to see friends on the other side of the country is one of the few perks left in this career. This industry would be pretty miserable if the jumpseat could only be used for work.

Well the thing was that last flight got me in within minutes of my sign in, she didn't know that was even an option. This whole thing started with her for whatever reason talking to me about the JS and then giving me a "sucks to suck" attitude about it. My gripe has nothing to do with the entire process of jumpseating and priority. That's been pounded into the ground my entire career and it is what it is. We all know that, I feel like some people here think that I'm mad about that. I'm not, I don't like it, but no one likes that aspect. That's why commuting sucks. I'll openly admit right here that I got painted into a corner. I've been bumped before and I've done the bumping but I never just wrote the pilot off with the short end of the stick. On a commute home I've given up my JS, last flight of the day, to someone trying to make an early duty in. I can't expect everyone to have that same attitude, people have lives. I just would never handle the situation the way this pilot did.
