Question Electronic J/S Reservation for United? How?

I have been told other major airlines with reciprocating J/S agreements can reserves or book a J/S in advance electronically on United Flights, but can fine no info on it anywhere. I have been booking J/S's electronically on American for months now with no problem through the ID90.com website using the "Commuting Pilot" tab. Oddly enough, when I go through the same website and look for the "United Airlines" tab for booking, I only get it when choosing "Leisure Travel" or "Commuting FA", but the United tab disappears when "Commuting Pilot" is chosen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

mike

You cannot. Only mainline UAL has the ability to list for the JS in advance on employeeres. Some United Express FA's can list in advance, but not pilots.

Don't call their non-rev number unless you want the $25 fee

Ok, understood. Not sure then why United agents (connection carrier usually) have asked me to book the JS online if there is no mechanism to do so.

They're not up to date. Express used to be able to list online the same way mainline does, but that was taken away over a year ago. Offline (non-United Express) has never been able to, at least for a long time. In fact, you can't even list at the airport more than 4 hours out.

Ok, sounds like the United agents in the Islands are miss informed when they insisted I book the JS online then.

Uni/Cal non-rev number is for Zed type listings. You have to list at the gate or service desk to jump, calling the number will not get you anywhere.

I ran into a similar problem a couple months ago jumpseating back from Sao Paulo Brazil on United. The gate agent insisted that I had to list myself online if I wanted to jumpseat (I'm a USAir Express pilot) even though I had no problem leaving the US by showing up at the gate and I asked 3 United gate agents in the US and they all said I could list for the return trip at the gate in Sao Paulo.

Long story short, I went to ID90.com to get my name in the system with a made up zed fare number and they did eventually figure out how to get me on, but it took them almost 3 hours to do it.

Just make the listing under commuting FA. I ride UAL a lot, that's what I use, seems to make the agents a little less grumpy (I haven't encountered a pleasant UAL agent in some time).
