Age 67

I am hearing more and more from our 64 year old pilots that they have pending legislation to raise the age to 67 in the near future, and that ALPA is not going to stand in the way.

If ALPA doesn't get on board with protecting the profession, this won't be much of a profession. Absolutely no upward movement the last 5 years.

ALPA is nothing more than a large corporation that wants money and power.
After the SLI, they need to be off property.

Ottolillienthal 08-05-2012 06:37 PM

I hear you.
But, before the SLI is done, age 67 will be implemented.

We best get National moving on this, otherwise we are doomed.

Let those old bastards die working.

Sources please. Not opinion. I have not found any info that this is being fast tracked. H.B ????? S.B. ????. These changes don't happen quickly. I won't be surprised though if it happens. What's ICAO doing?

Sources: IAH Chief Pilots Office. Contiental (IAH) Training Dept. B-777 Check Airman and Simulator Instructors.

Check in with the Senior Pilot's Coalition and ask Larry and his boys what they are up to.

Many talking of going to Canada to get medicals and certificates transferred over.

It will take about 4 weeks. Look for legislation prior to Thanksgiving. Look for fast track onto some end of year boon doggle legislation.

You didn't see a change in the line check process did you? That was part of the law.

You didn't see the old guys who were already over age 60 prior to the law change hit the street at Continental did you?

That was contrary to the law.

Talk to Abbot, Neglia, talk to his buddy Stankovich, talk to his good buddy Bobby Sturgel. You want sources.......

Go out and do some investigating, then you'll get your sources.

Best to engage ALPA and get Moak on the record as to what he intends to do about it. Best to get Moak on the record, and if he fails to act, we can fire his butt.

One thing to consider is ICAO. If this group does not change to age 67 than US widebody buys, over 65, would not be allowed to fly overseas. Thus, a large portion would have to be retrained which would take the airlines, in some cases, 2 years. Airlines are not going to sign up for this, its a cost factor.

Now ICAO changes the retirement age all bets are off.

Have you been drinking and posting? This is the most ridiculous post I have seen in quite some time and that is saying a lot.

For the record, there is absolutely nothing going on regarding changing the retirement age.

For *******ks sake were they that ignorant to depend on the pension plan only. After making all of this money for all the years leading up to 9/11 before their retirement was taken away couldn't you save enough money to retire at age 60 comfortably?

If there in fact is a legislation put together by those money hungry old farts to extend it to 67 we need to do something now and have our vice be heard. Just let it go and enjoy the few last years you have left before it's time to go out of this world. Greed is a *****!!!!

Wow, what difference does it make how the guy lived his life? So this is what we do, just shove people out of our way to step into their shoes? Wait til you're there and some smartass is saying this same crap to you. They are money hungry? Aren't we wanting their jobs for the same reasons?
